Colorado restaurant illegally reopens with no social distancing and hundreds of customers
Source: Washington Post
The armed bouncer appeared friendly, welcoming a local reporter inside C&C Coffee and Kitchen in Castle Rock, Colo., to take video footage of the remarkable scene unfolding inside.
In the restaurant on Sunday morning, in defiance of Gov. Jared Poliss executive Safer at Home order, every table was nearly full, according to the footage from Colorado Community Media reporter Nick Puckett. Customers crowded around the counter waiting for their orders. The line to place them went out the door, wrapping around the side of the building.
And almost no one was wearing a face mask. Only a single person among the dozens in Pucketts footage can be seen wearing one.
For the owners of the breakfast cafe, it was a way to both celebrate Mothers Day and defy the governor.

(81,844 posts)I saw A LOT of people hanging out together in yards or in the same location yesterday. I also saw long lines outside a bakery on Saturday, so I think a lot of people planned on seeing each other on Sunday.

We'll never get to "step two".
The people in charge DO NOT KNOW WTF THEY ARE DEALING WITH!
Things cannot improve until they know what they are up against!

Why is this not 'willful mixing of airborne bodily fluids'? More of a public health risk than syphillis and more imminent risk of demise than HIV.

(8,445 posts)I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. The ones in Calhan are mom and pop restaurants, and I'm sure they see their livelihoods circling the drain. They see the small business funding going to the big corporations while they're left to watch themselves fail.
Adding to that, their customer base are mostly a bunch of right wingnuts who watch FauxNews and listen to Rush Limbaugh. Maybe they'll come around in their way of thinking when they watch their friends and neighbors succumb to the virus. But probably not.
I love where I live, but, honestly, I don't give too many effs about the eastern part of the state. If they could put a dome over it and keep all of the nuts inside, I'd be fine with them exposing each other into oblivion.

(5,730 posts)I would like to see stats east/west. When I go out here in Western Colorado (as little as possible), people mostly wear masks and have been very respectful of social distancing. Supermarket shelves were CLEARED of thousands of packs of buns yesterday. People stayed home for Mother's Day barbecues, apparently.

(11,825 posts)site I follow that does link to counties inside the states ... it will be interesting to look at Douglas County (I think that's it, based on the video in one of the following posts) in a few weeks to see if there is an increase. This is where I look for Indiana daily:

(45,380 posts)since they're not masking for a friend. Some people think it's very rebellious to defy the governor. But if they really want to own the libs, they can drink bleach and lick door knobs.

Willful ignorance when you have access to information is just not acceptable.
I do not like that I do not care about so many, but I don't.
