Sanders says another presidential run is 'very, very unlikely'

Source: The Hill

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (I) said Monday that it is “very, very unlikely” that he will ever run for president again.

Speaking at a Washington Post Live event, Sanders was asked whether he’d consider a third consecutive presidential run in 2024.

“I think the likelihood is very, very slim at that,” said Sanders, who will turn 79 later this year.

“I think next time around you’ll see another progressive carrying the banner," he added. "I think it’s very, very unlikely that I’ll ever be running for president again.”

As long as Bernie keeps hope in his candidacy alive, some of his supporters will avoid coalescing around Biden. They need to know that the possibility of Bernie running, whether it's now or 4 years from now, no longer exists and that they need to get behind Biden.

We must unify behind Biden. It's literally a matter of life and death for thousands of Americans. Thousands will needlessly die if Trump is reelected.

Or maybe his SOS. But both of those would be very interesting.

"If I'm the nominee I can tell you one thing — I would very much want Bernie Sanders to be part of the journey. Not as a vice presidential nominee, but just in engaging in all the things that he's worked so hard to do, many of which I agree with."

Question is, will Bernie rise up to the challenge? He will have to share the limelight with Democratic establishment incarnate, can he do it?

To have an honest, caring, consistent progressive whose main concerns were to help bring a balance back towards average workers after decades of shifting to the right. Someone who marched in marches with MLK, and has remained consistent in his beliefs thoughout his career. Someone who had the popularity and energized supporters to make a real difference. Even if he may not have actually achieved all of progressives goals. Even simply having the press take those goals seriously, as they did for about a week there when they were forced to face the possibility of a Sanders win early in the primaries. Both Biden and Sanders would have equally had the better chance to win against Trump. The scaremongering about electability was bs.

edit for the trigger fingers who assume pining over one candidate means you don't support the other: VOTE BLUE NO MATTER WHO!!!! WHICH MEANS JOE BIDEN!!!! FUCK ALL THOSE ON JPR AND OTHER PLACES THAT SAY THEY WON'T!!!!!
