Former Lindsey Graham donor backs his Democratic challenger after questioning Graham's principles
Source: CNN
(CNN)A prominent donor to Sen. Lindsey Graham said this week he broke with the South Carolina Republican to support his Democratic challenger after he started to question Graham's principles. Richard Wilkerson, the former chairman and president of Michelin North America, said in an opinion piece published Sunday in the Greenville News that he supported Graham until 2017 when he "started having real misgivings about him when he failed to mount any significant defense" of the late Republican Sen. John McCain, who President Donald Trump frequently attacked both before his passing in 2018 and after. "I asked myself, 'What is the character of a man who will not defend his best friend? If he won't defend John McCain, why would I expect him to defend any of us in South Carolina?'" Wilkerson wrote of Graham, who is one of Trump's strongest defenders in Congress. He continued: "My conclusion was that he was more interested in currying favor than in honoring the memory of a true American hero whom he had described as his best friend. I was extremely disappointed." Read more: https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/12/politics/lindsey-graham-donor-support-challenger/index.html ![]()

3. Keep exposing the self-serving coward. Miss Lindsey has no defense but to try to hold the edges of
her skirts out of the mud she now wades in.

7. There are plenty of things to call him out on,
But referring to him as a she, in order to condemn him, just comes off as transphobic. Is that not against the rules here? I won’t alert, but...

10. I'm sure truthisfreedom is aware Lindsey is NOT trans,
but when you want to purposely insult someone with maximum impact, you use whatever tact needed that will hit home for THEM.
When I came out in the mid-70's one of my biggest areas of discomfort was with (almost) ALL gay men referring to each other with feminine names, and the wholesale "camping it up" whenever we were in our own, isolated groups. (If we did it in public we would get our asses beat.) I saw it as implying that we all wanted to be women. I knew I didn't, so why would they do it? I also viewed drag as more of a freak show, than anything else. It was a slow learning curve experience for me. Expressing our feminine side takes a lot more courage than MOST straight men will ever have. As with anything, the more you are exposed to something, the less "other" it is. Our "feminine" side does seem to be where our sympathy and empathy lies. We would be better people building a better world, if we were more comfortable expressing it. THEY (the haters) are the ones who have defined those qualities as lesser. But those traits to aspire to aren't defined by dresses, make up, "fuck me stilettos" (like Melania's ![]() Poor widdle Limpsey (sic) can't. And THAT is where his problem lies. He is still just another fucking closet case. He can fluff and fellate in private (I apologize for THAT disgusting visual), but he is well aware that he is just another coward being philosophically raped by one of the most EPIC LOSERS of all time. Sadly, little turdlette Graham is guilty of rampant and blatant HYPOCRISY. HE may be offended by the feminine references, which is why we use them, but WE aren't. WE ARE PROUD OF OUR DUALITY. ALL HAIL RUPAUL!!! And, honestly, if you have never watched Rupaul's Drag Race, DO!!! (preferably on VH1, since it is in true high definition, and you MUST see the makeup in high definition ![]() And DAMN are those MEN beautiful. But NONE are as beautiful as Ru! So, as a man, I don't take offense when others try using anything "feminine" as an insult, because I know that in reality, it is the ultimate complement. |

14. Thank you for your long, thoughtful response.
I don’t think he believes him to be trans either, but referring to him in that way as an insult, implies that there is something wrong with that. It’s seems more derogatory towards the trans community than towards Lindsay Graham.
Like when Arnold Shwartznegger called legislators “girlie men.” I, as a female, found that offensive because rather than an insult to the men, it was an insult to women, implying that we are weak. |

15. Interesting
and colorfully shared. Being straight but living in a gay community, I long ago realized what the Rainbow Flag meant to me... my straight friends are nice but mostly black and white, where as my gay friends are usually in radiant living color. I always look forward to seeing them with a tiny bit greater joy.

He doesn't serve anyone but himself.

9. I don't blame the donor/supporter. Many republicans abandoned principles and values they have
had for many years, and for what? Some freeloader who didn't really give a crap about any party, let alone the republican party. The fact that these republicans let someone take over their party so easily really disgusts me in that its obvious that they are not in it for Country, not in it for Party, but instead, for personal enrichment at taxpayer expense, damn the voters.
Massive and persistent greed throughout the entire republican party is why they allowed rump in at the top of their ticket. |

13. "Jaime Harrison" is the name, not "Democratic Challenger". Name recognitionimportant!!
Harrison's campaign brought in a total of $7.2 million in the first three months of 2020, while Graham brought in nearly $5.6 million. Though Harrison's numbers for the first quarter outpace Graham's, the incumbent senator has raised more total since the beginning of the cycle -- trumping his opponent by over $6 million. Additionally, Graham's campaign has more than $4.8 million more cash on hand than Harrison.

The donor's right; he has no principles. He's become such a sniveling lap dog of Trump. But that's all the Republican party is now, the cult of Trump.

17. Cool but there are multiple Democratic challengers. I like Jaime Harrison. He is progressive, part
of the black community, smart as hello, paid his dues.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaime_Harrison Nothing against Amy, she is very good. I just like Jaime better. I don’t care what gender anyone is or isn’t. |
