(CNN)Michelle Obama is helping to give students a prom.
Obama's nonpartisan organization, When We All Vote, and MTV will host a virtual prom event for the class of 2020.
The event, announced on Thursday, is meant to boost the spirits of the students whose proms and graduation ceremonies have been canceled due to Covid-19 as well as shine a light on registering and voting in the national election in November.
MTV's Prom-athon is also being held in partnership with the 2020 Prom Challenge which Obama publicized in February by sharing her own prom photo.

(4,483 posts)Michelle and Barack Obama are the coolest, kindest people in the world. They're participating in a virtual graduation ceremony (with a speech by the ex-president!) and reading books to little kids online (to give parents a break), and now this.
Melania? Melania? Melania Who?
Trump is positively shitting himself over these moves. He will consider them politically motivated against HIM because everything is about HIM, and frankly I don't care if there is a little bit of joy in imagining Trump's reaction but what a wonderful generous absolutely cool move by the Obamas. They are absolutely the greatest and are demonstrating how things should be done. Are the Bushes paying attention? Laura Bush was a librarian--why doesn't she read books to kids online? W likes to party--surely he could help chaperone the prom!
I love the Obamas so much I could burst.
