Democrats push new $3T coronavirus relief bill through House
Source: AP
WASHINGTON (AP) Democrats powered a massive $3 trillion coronavirus relief bill through the House on Friday, an election-year measure designed to brace a U.S. economy in free fall and a health care system struggling to contain a pandemic still pummeling the country.
The 208-199 vote, over strong Republican opposition, advances what boils down to a campaign-season display of Democratic economic and health-care priorities. It has no chance of becoming law as written, but will likely spark difficult negotiations with the White House and Senate Republicans. Any product would probably be the last major COVID-19 response bill before Novembers presidential and congressional elections.
The enormous Democratic measure would cost more than the prior four coronavirus bills combined. It would deliver almost $1 trillion for state and local governments, another round of $1,200 direct payments to individuals and help for the unemployed, renters and homeowners, college debt holders and the struggling Postal Service.
Not to act now is not only irresponsible in a humanitarian way, it is irresponsible because its only going to cost more, warned House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. More in terms of lives, livelihood, cost to the budget, cost to our democracy.

(2,859 posts)As was said before, Moscow Mitch will ignore at his own peril. One thing that upsets me though, if Hillary was president, the Republicans would have let the country burn like they did in 2008.

Moscow Mitch will never consider it

(13,736 posts)I'm already seeing this in California, against Newsom: interviewing unknowns on the news regarding what went wrong, and why we are in debt. They don't know, they just want to take over the blue states with their lies.
In fact, I would go as far as to say, this is why Trump and his traitors began hijacking all the PPE's: so they could control the prices, and put blue states further in debt.

(26,113 posts)Unless PUtin/drumpf tell him to that is. If they make him send this to the floor, it will be voted down on a partisan basis because it doesn't cut SS taxes so assmouth can turn around and fufill their rw wildest dreams of basically ending SS.

(10,362 posts)The Dems are the ONLY reason those protesting POS Trumpanzies got their $1200 checks. Last I heard the Senate won't even be back until after Memorial day. McConnell doesn't care, he doesn't want money in peoples pockets, he wants all the chaos in the streets just like Trump by having his AR-15 toting followers bitching to open the Country wide open.
