Border Patrol Drone Used In Anti-Terror Ops Flies Over Minneapolis Protestors
Source: Ars Technica
As thousands of people took to the streets of Minneapolis on Friday to protest a white officer killing an unarmed black man by kneeling on his neck during an arrest, a Customs and Border Patrol drone kept a careful eye on the unfolding unrest.
The drone, using the tracking signal CBP104, took off from Grand Forks Airforce Base at 9:08 am Central Daylight Time and shortly afterward headed directly to Minneapolis, this feed from live flight tracking service FlightAware showed. The drone then circled the city six times from about 10:45 until noon. The aircraft maintained an altitude of about 20,000 feet.
Grand Forks AFB is the home of the Air Force's 319th Reconnaissance Wing. It is also a site Customs and Border Patrol personnel use for takeoff and landing of the Predator B unmanned aircraft system. CPB uses the drone in anti-terrorism operations by helping to identify and intercept potential terrorists and illegal cross-border activity.
The Minneapolis protests come after video footage emerged of white Minneapolis Police Department officer Derek Chauvin earlier this week kneeling on the neck of black man George Floyd while he was handcuffed and on the ground. Floyd can be seen gradually becoming motionless as Chauvin and three other officers ignore bystanders shouts to stop. People in Minneapolis and cities across the US have taken to the streets to protest the violence in the four days that have passed.

Rickles did some great research legwork there.
May that miscreant be found, and prosecuted (though I doubt it).

Of course, I'm just speculating.

(969 posts)They already sent the drone, they would have add tanks, rocket launchers...etc

(1,062 posts)thus, its name, Predator. Just remember that they are sending military predator drones over the heads of American citizens ... we have crossed the Rubicon and into fascist territory and the reality that it meant decades ago and today. They always start with the hated groups first (the ill, the deprived, women, persons of color, the political who call them out for their lies).
Trump intends this harm, this damage, these points of destruction... its the only thing he and his Republican handlers have left... they intend us to live under their thumb, under their guns, and under fear for the rest of our lives while they party with the boys in the cabana.
