Va. Declares State Of Emergency, DC Imposes Curfew As Region Enters 3rd Night Of Protests

In response to a third straight night of protests over the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser ordered a citywide curfew starting at 11 p.m. Sunday until 6 a.m. Monday.
Bowser also called in the D.C. National Guard to back up D.C. police in dealing with potentially violent protests. Those protests at Lafayette Square, across the street from the White House, were at first "quite orderly but quite vocal," WTOP's Steve Dresner reported.
Around 7:30, WTOP's Alejandro Alvarez said, that changed. Someone broke the windshield of a D.C. police car, which led to "a volley of flashbangs and pepperballs" - a form of pepper spray that's concentrated and directional - from the D.C. police.
In Virginia, Gov. Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency in the commonwealth in preparation for what could be another violent night of clashes between law enforcement and protesters. "The emergency declaration will provide the necessary support to localities as they work to keep our communities safe," Northam said. "There are many voices speaking out for justice and healing across the United States and in our commonwealth, but others are exploiting the pain and inciting violence."...

it's blatantly obvious that there are assholes smashing windows and stealing liquor and other items from restaurants right now. I can see it from my balcony. Plenty of police flying by at high speed and fire trucks crawling by at low speed. I can hear firecrackers. It's a wild night.
