'Let's get this motherf--ker': San Jose officer benched after viral protest comments

Source: The Mercury News

SAN JOSE — The San Jose Police Department was doing damage control after one of its officers trended nationally on social media for aggressive comments toward demonstrators protesting the George Floyd killing in Minneapolis, shouting “Let’s get this motherf—er” and “Shut up, bitch” as he manned downtown skirmish lines.

The officer, confirmed to be six-year SJPD veteran Jared Yuen, was recorded in multiple instances late Friday afternoon and drew immediate and wide rebukes from thousands of people who watched the video and called for Yuen’s firing.

One of the videos had been viewed more than 10 million times and been shared nearly 500,000 times on Twitter as of Sunday morning. Authorities confirmed that Yuen has been temporarily taken off street duty and will not be staffing any more demonstrations.

Raj Jayadev, director of the South Bay social-justice group Silicon Valley De-Bug, said the videos are particularly troubling because of the fears elicited by the police killing of Floyd last week, after Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee on a handcuffed Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes. Chauvin was fired and has since been charged with murder.

They hurt someone I know really really bad. He got a large settlement out of it and yes, it was racially motivated. I'm not sure if he is still alive; not sure that I want to know.

Second, I know of a person that is affiliated w/them and if you are into killing a lot of innocent animals and having their remains hanging on the walls with the guns used to kill them with, well he's the guy for you.

A bad he is.

Maybe just two bad apples in the whole bucket ...

weed out the racist cops or those who have anger management issues, etc. There's alot still to do so it will be a long fight. But Chief Garcia and other police chiefs like him will help restore our faith in law enforcement.

He needs retraining before dealing with the public again or he needs to be fired. That goes for all who can't deal with the people they are there to serve and protect

7. Fire him now. No more excuses for blatant death threats and promoting violence from "peacekeepers."

"Light 'em up" etc. Has no place in professional law enforcement.
