In Huntington Beach, a Geroge Floyd protest deemed unlawful, but stay-at-home protest one month ago

Source: NBC

In Huntington Beach, California, hundreds protests the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old unarmed black man who died in the custody of white police officers. They held signs that read, "End Racism" and "Black Lives Matter," according to KTLA.

Police deemed the gathering as an unlawful assembly and asked the demonstrators to disperse, police officials said in a statement.

But just one month ago, a different protest in the same Orange County community, was left mostly alone.

Thousands turned up in early May, packed shoulder-to-shoulder, to protest Governor Gavin Newsom's order to close all beaches to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Huntington Beach has some pretty extreme racists there, and I think violence could very well have occurred there. They said on the news it was getting pretty confrontational, and I believe it. There was at least some wisdom in shutting it down.

... an experienced administration can handle a situation like this, by establishing a clear demarcation between the protest and the counter protest and keeping them physically separated.

They need to up their game.
