and everything was back to normal. The virus isn't being spread at the protests and George Floyd is looking down with happiness, isn't he? That's what I heard.

precautions I saw at the VA and what I saw as the summer weekenders came into town was shocking. Its obvious the VA is ready for the worst. This is Texas and they've been trying to keep a lid on the problems with Covid in the meat plant up around Abilene.

have to balance the fear of Trump's anger with fear of reprisal from other GOP party members with whatever sense of real events and consequences they may have. I am not being sympathetic about them, merely trying to be accurate.

The GOP Senators and for the most part the GOP House members appear to be blind to anything that doesn't re-elect them or which interferes with tax and cash benefits flowing to and from their patrons/owners. I haven't seen or heard of any of them actually doing something not approved by Mitch and Trump. Some will try any tactics to appear sympathetic or even responsive to their constituents or the country as a whole. But so far they have grandstanded in front of the cameras, argued irrationally against, and voted down anything proposed to meaningfully respond to this crisis. I add that this is unique to the Trump era in that past GOP members in both houses would divide from leadership over issues and over things that would help or hurt their own voters.

Neither Trump nor the GOP as a whole has any goal at all in mind other than the election win fantasy they profoundly hope for or have been promised by Putin, Koch, The Saudi Princes, or anyone else with the cash and the will.

They may be dimly aware that a million US dead is a bad idea but they have the rich man's attitude that those who die or suffer should have taken better care of themselves. Their excuse is that we all must pull up our own bootstraps and anyone who doesn't have only themselves to blame for any hardship.

They expect to win. They expect that anything they do will get them that power. They believe as all mobsters do that because they are connected they are and will be protected. They DO NOT expect to save we the ordinary ones from COVID or Finacial ruin or from losing our health, livelihood, families, homes, cultures, or the country we love. They expect that we will submit and they expect that some of us will die.

People cough and sneeze from tear gas. I was indoors and was sneezing and tearing up from gas outside.

They're close together during these protests. Abusive cops pull off people's masks to pepper spray them.
