Virginia Trooper Resigns After Saying He Coughed on Driver to Spread Coronavirus

The trooper's texts were uncovered as his brother stands accused in a homicide in Arizona

A Virginia State trooper assigned to Fairfax County has resigned after he claimed in a text message that he intentionally coughed on a driver to spread the coronavirus. A separate criminal investigation into the trooper also is underway.

Trooper Jacob P. Gooch was placed on administrative leave in early May and later resigned, state police told News4 on Monday.

In a text exchange with his brothers in mid-April, Gooch said he issued a ticket to a driver who was a Mennonite and coughed on him “so he would spread Corona to the wedding they were going too. lol.”

Gooch’s brother, Mark Gooch, pleaded not guilty last month to the murder of Sasha Krause, a 27-year-old Sunday school teacher who disappeared from a Mennonite community in New Mexico, the Associated Press reported. (1)

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — In a forest clearing outside Flagstaff, Arizona, Sasha Krause was found cold and stiff, with a bullet wound to the back of her head. She was face down beneath brush, wearing a gray dress, white coat and hiking shoes. Her hair was pinned in a bun and her hands bound by duct tape. Her underwear was missing.

The 27-year-old Sunday school teacher had disappeared more than a month earlier from a Mennonite community in New Mexico more than 400 miles (640 kilometers) away.

Authorities are still trying to determine how her body ended up steps away from a makeshift camp off a lonely two-lane road that cuts through the canyons and groves of towering pine trees.

A 21-year-old U.S. Air Force airman stationed near Phoenix has pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges. Raised in a Mennonite family in Wisconsin, Mark Gooch joined the military to escape what he told investigators was a difficult, sheltered and restricted life, according to sheriff’s records obtained by The Associated Press.

One with this headline:

"NY Police Union Boss Rages: 'Stop Treating Us Like Animals and Thugs, and Start Treating Us With Respect".

What this trooper did was sadistic and cruel.

If so many cops didn't act like "animals and thugs" maybe people would treat them with respect. Meanwhile, what police often construe as respect is actually fear. Its long past time for major change.
