BEIJING (Reuters) - The Chinese military suffered casualties in a border clash with Indian soldiers, the editor-in-chief of China’s Global Times newspaper said on Tuesday.

India says soldiers killed on disputed Himalayan border with China

Tue 16 Jun 2020 05.42 EDT

Three members of India’s armed forces have been killed in a “violent face-off” with Chinese soldiers on their disputed Himalayan border, the Indian army has said in a statement.

The deaths are the first loss of life in the border area in at least 45 years, and come amid a renewed dispute between the two countries in recent weeks. Indian and Chinese soldiers, who often do not carry weapons in the area to avoid escalating conflicts, have brawled, detained each other and deployed forces and equipment in the western Himalayas in recent weeks.

“During the de-escalation process under way in the Galwan Valley, a violent face-off took place yesterday [Monday] night with casualties on both sides,” the Indian army said in a statement on Tuesday afternoon Delhi-time. “The loss of lives on the Indian side includes an officer and two soldiers.”

South Korea are anxiety-provoking. All we need now is a lethal mistake between Russian and American fighter pilots over Alaska or elsewhere, or some provocation against Japan by one of its adversaries...

If this blows up into something Pakistan sides with China.

With the US crippled by pandemic, civil unrest, economic ruin, and a dysfunctional government led by an idiot, expect incursions around the world before the election chaos.

They were thinking the U.S. was out of action in the Pacific but now that the U.S. got the Theodore Roosevelt back into action sooner than expected there are three carrier groups, one in the eastern Pacific and two in the west. With the Stick moving to the Pacific China just went to being the second most powerful navy in the Pacific.

They had less success when they invaded Vietnam almost 30 years later. Their antiquated human wave tactics did not work well in the jungles of Vietnam or against AK-47's.

Who knows what their army is like now? They haven't fought a war in almost 40 years. Let's hope we never have to find out.
