Pence falsely claims Oklahoma has 'flattened the curve' ahead of Trump rally

At the White House, Mike Pence claimed that in a very real sense, Oklahoma had flattened the curve of new Covid-19 infections.
Today their hospital capacity is abundant, said Pence, who leads the White House coronavirus taskforce and will attend the rally in Tulsa. The number of cases in Oklahoma has declined precipitously and we feel very confident going forward with the rally this coming weekend.
But what he said was untrue.
At the weekend, Oklahoma reported its highest daily total of new Covid-19 cases, 225, since the pandemic began. On Sunday, Tulsa county reported its largest single-day increase since early March. On Monday, state statistics showed the seven-day rolling average for new cases in Tulsa county was 65, up on a previous peak of 26 in early April.

At the White House, Trump revealed his thoughts on the efficacy of testing.
If we stop testing right now, the president said, wed have very few cases, if any.

(111,255 posts)Friends there are entering panic mode again as cases spike, hospitals are full to the brim, and Chumps prefer to listen to the witless governor and his chubby god in DC, rather than protect themselves and others.
OK might be the laboratory that finally destroys all the fantasies, but the cost is going to be horribly high.
If you live there, protect yourselves as much as possible by avoiding your fellow citizens. And don't take those deep breaths when you're out. Use them at home when the mask comes off and your hands are washed.

(45,433 posts)That's all red state Dems can do: masks, social distance, wash hands, avoid people, etc. as if they were in a blue city.
But Trump supporters are of course going to live dangerously. So his rally this Saturday will be packed full of the dumbest people in OK, no social distancing, no masks, A/C since it's summer, and they will all have signed a waiver promising not to sue over something they believe is a hoax. Some of those folks will no doubt catch it and spread it to others. Steer clear of these folks. Italy's early outbreak was traced to a soccer game where lots of folks in the audience caught and spread it to their grandparents.

Guess he did.
Now hes changed to right to a peaceful assembly in defense of the rally. Ha!

however, below the surface, I see an insidious little man hell bent on transforming the US into gideon from "The Handmaids Tale".

(12,585 posts)Just four days ago campaign manager Brad Parscale said the number was 100,000 people, then a few hours after that he updated the number to 200,000.
Hey, I heard 400 million people have requested tickets, but there wasn't enough room in the United States for all of them.
I want pictures of all the empty seats at the rally.
And I do NOT want it to be carried live in its entirety on the cable news networks. What is news is that the rally is being held; what is not news are the blatherings of a senile fool.
