Half brother of Palmdale hanging victim Robert Fuller is fatally shot by deputies

Source: Los Angeles Times

The half brother of Robert Fuller, a young Black man who was found hanging from a tree in Palmdale last week, was shot dead by Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies during a shootout on Wednesday afternoon in Kern County, according to law enforcement sources and an attorney for the family.

The shooting occurred about 4:30 p.m. in a parking lot in Rosamond, a community about 20 miles north of Palmdale. The killing came as activists and community members have been openly critical of how Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies handled the investigation into Fuller's death.

Lt. Robert Westphal of the Los Angeles County sheriff's department said that the fatal shooting occurred during a kidnapping and assault investigation that is being handled by the department's major crimes bureau.

Westphal did not identify man who was fatally shot. Jamon Hicks, an attorney for the Fuller family confirmed that the man killed by deputies was Terron Boone.

I must have a suspicious mind, but these hangings and death are too many coincidences. Lonestarblue Jun 2020 #6

Yeah, they don't get the benefit of the doubt. Bodycam footage or it (shootout) didn't happen.

Assume it’s an unfortunate coincidence rather than something sinister. But I guess time will tell.

From the poorly written article:

None of the detectives nor their vehicles were equipped with cameras

showed multiple vehicles trailing a dark SUV into a housing complex parking lot. Voices repeatedly shouted, “Hands up!” before gunfire erupted.

saw a man slumped in the passenger seat of a blue sport utility vehicle, clearly dead.

Law enforcement officers, in plainclothes

ON EDIT:

This sounds like a case where plainclothes cops in unmarked cars followed a man with his S.O. and child to their home and either attempted to defend himself or didn't immediately cede to their nebulous authority.

Kern County has a Sheriffs office, so why is the LA Country Sheriffs office running the investigation?

(Kern County. Think "The Grapes of Wrath".)

if it started in LA Cnty then they are first in line, the to the next county and they are 2nd in line.

If you are not in line you do not get spoils of the chase.

Had one years ago that went thru about 8 counties, some 20-24 cars trailing.
Believe it was drug related so any confiscated gains are split up.
