HOUSTON — Texas reported the largest daily increase in COVID-19 cases Saturday since the pandemic began.

The city of Houston reported its largest daily increase in cases on Friday.

Dr. David Persse, the Houston Health Department's leading health authority, said the data show the coronavirus situation in Greater Houston is getting worse by the day.

“I think that Houstonians did a really good job, right up until now,” Persse said, “where apparently it looks like we’re not doing a very good job anymore.”

HOUSTON – Social media is reacting this weekend after videos show a jammed packed pool party in Houston.

A large number of people who didn’t appear to be social distancing or wearing masks were seen in videos at Clé Houston, a club in Midtown.

Memorial Day weekend represents the first time since mid-March that bars and clubs in Texas were allowed to reopen after mandatory COVID-19 shutdowns.

With many people experiencing cabin fever, and ready to enjoy the unofficial start of summer, some clubs and bars exceeded the 25% capacity, which is a health guideline set by the state. Restaurants, however, are allowed to operate at 50% capacity.

I've known several people who were OBSESSED with them, like it was the only source of joy in their lives. Those types of people won't stop unless the places are shut down, unfortunately.
