White House coronavirus task force to hold first briefing in nearly two months

The White House coronavirus task force will hold a press briefing on Friday, marking the first time the group has spoken on camera to the public in roughly two months.

The briefing will take place at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and will be led by Vice President Pence, who chairs the task force.

The announcement comes as cases are spiking in several states.

The task force has been publicly absent for the last two months after the White House halted what had been near-daily briefings on the pandemic. The last task force briefing occurred on April 27, just a few days after President Trump sparked widespread backlash by suggesting scientists study injecting light and chemicals into the body as a potential treatment for the virus.

I anticipate new ammunition for the Lincoln Project and Biden/Dem ads. I continue to be amazed that Drs Fauci and Birx can continue to be part of this terrible charade of leadership. I bet they are working in the background to try and make things better. but what a hard miserable job under the worst of circumstances.

I am going to do what I have to do to survive so that I can stay in a position where I can at least try to lessen the impact of the administration's monumental stupidity.

During Vice President Pence's trip to South Korea this weekend, he responded interestingly to a question from CNN's Dana Bash:

DANA BASH, CNN: You know this is real for you? There are estimates that North korea could have a missile ready that could hit the continental United States -- Seattle -- by 2020. Which is going to be on your watch!

MIKE PENCE: [stares]

BASH: I mean -- is that weighing on you? Is that a deadline that you all have in mind?

MIKE PENCE: The president of the United States has no higher priority than the safety and security of the American people.

8. I won't watch this, don't want to give them an extra set of eyes and ears to see or hear their lies.

Pence will announce they are starting to use the 14m (B?) appropriated for testing and are shutting down other testing (so there's zero net gain, which is the idea). He won't actually say the later part about stopping testing unless asked and maybe not then either. He may just lie and lie and lie, that's what I expect. Will see what Rachel has to say about it later tonight.
