Honda Is Suspending Its Ads On Facebook

Verizon, Ben and Jerrys, The North Face, and Patagonia all said this week they would suspend advertising on Facebook over the social networks handling of misinformation and hate speech. Today, Honda became the first automaker to do the same thing.
The campaigncalled Stop Hate for Profit and organized by the Anti-Defamation League and NAACP, among other groupsis an attempt to deprive Facebook of its biggest source of income and stop enabling a social media company that rakes in profits despite being a forum for hate and misinformation.
And while the campaign itself isnt quite all its cracked up to be, according to our sister site Gizmodo, Honda decided this week it wanted in on the action.
From Ad Age:
For the month of July, American Honda will withhold its advertising on Facebook and Instagram, choosing to stand with people united against hate and racism, Honda said in a statement. This is in alignment with our companys values, which are grounded in human respect.
The move includes spending for the Honda brand as well as Acura, Hondas luxury brand.

(5,477 posts)We had a 1996 Outback wagon that we gave to some friends when it was just 3 months short of 20 years of ownership, with 280K on it. Last time we were in it there was well over 320K. They called this morning to let us know that it had been stolen overnight, but up until then it had still been going strong! (It had bad head gaskets when we gave it to them, and they did the work and kept it on the road, pretty much trouble-free for another 4 years.)
We got a 2016 Crosstrek to replace the older car, and it's been great. Our local dealer is VERY good, and has a great reputation. When we went to see about getting a new one a salesperson came out and asked if he could help. I pointed to the old Outback and said, "We bought this one here 20 years ago from a guy named Joe Spitz". He said, "Oh, yeah - he's here today...want to talk to him?", and an hour or so later we were on our way with a new car. We managed to buy 2 cars, 20 years apart, from the same salesperson!

(100,070 posts)I am looking at getting a new Legacy. I've been going back and forth between the Legacy, the Hyundai Sonata, and the Honda Accord Hybrid. I've been driving Nissans for many years now and have been looking to change up my ride. Subaru is one of the contenders for me because every car has all wheel drive and it's one of the only sedans in that price range with that feature.
