A social media video showed the armed couple standing outside of their large home yesterday in the upscale Central West End neighbourhood of the Missouri city.

In the video, the unidentified couple shouted at protestors, while people in the march moved the crowd forward, urging participants to ignore them.

The group of at least 500 people were heading toward Mayor Lyda Krewson's home, chanting, “Resign Lyda, take the cops with you,” news outlets reported.

Worst part of this story is even if they lose their job(s) once their employer sees their obvious racism and wardrobe choices is that he probably gets hired by Xe (formerly Blackwater) since their only hiring requirement is "Must have ability to waive around military style weapon recklessly at unarmed citizens that are of little to no immediate threat."

Editor's note: This story has been updated to remove the address of the home.

When attorneys Mark and Patty McCloskey bought their home in February of 1988, it was the color of cigarette ashes. Still dirty from the days when St. Louis lay under a blanket of coal smoke, the home’s Carthage marble facing “had quarter-inch-thick carbon on it in some places,” Mark says. The two Carrara marble urns out front, copies of a pair at the Vatican, had turned black, obscuring Neptune and his attending dolphins. The imported Caen limestone in the entry hall had been painted battleship gray, and the intricate wood carvings in the dining room (which, as Mark points out, are so detailed, you can see the birds’ individual claws), were smothered in layers of white and robin’s-egg blue. What had once been St. Louis’ most dazzling mansion now felt more like a haunted house. It didn’t help that the first time Mark and Patty turned the key in the door, the temperature had fallen to 4 below zero and the house didn’t have a functioning furnace. The prior owner had heated the house with 48 kerosene space heaters that had since been removed.

The McCloskeys joke that they were too young and naïve to know what they’d signed up for. But 30 years later, the house is as magnificent as it was when Edward and Anna Busch Faust held court here, meeting guests at the top of the grand staircase for afternoon tea or smoking cigars around the billiard table in the sub-basement.

And a large gaggle of protesters were walking down my street ... and I happened to have an AR-15 (which I never would), given the recent vandalism and looting associated with some protests of late ... I could see entertaining the thought of walking out front with my AR strapped across my back.

I would never draw it, and would strongly guess I wouldn't need to. The brandishing (as you say, for no real reason) is where they got way out of line, IMHO. Had they just been standing there, armed, but not brandishing, nobody would talking about this.

Not sure I would do that, but it would cross my mind, not gonna lie.

Then again, it's all very theoretical, since I've never owned a gun in my life.

The street that the house is on seems to be a restricted one - Google Maps does not have a Street View of the neighborhood. But the view is from a curved sidewalk.

Look up Portland Place, St. Louis, MO on Google Maps - then pull up the aerial view. The house seems to be the one at the east end of the street on the north side, which is a very flattened oval. That makes the sidewalk curve look like its along a curved driveway.

You can see the house, behind a wall, from Kingshighway Blvd and see the entrance though which the protestors entered the neighborhood. That entrance does not seem to be gated or have signage restricting entrance. One of the early stories said they were looking for the mayor's house so she may live in that upscale area.

Tamil Rice was shot to death for playing with a toy gun. These cretins get to wave around deadly weaponry in a manner no one familiar with firearm handling would possibly allow under any circumstances. And get away without a scratch.

It's a historic mansion, restored to look like it used to, after having fallen into serious disrepair. They've spent 30 years restoring it.

I think it's pretty awesome, honestly.

That's irrespective of their actions, which I don't condone. Standing out front with the AR strapped across his back would be one thing. Somewhat understandable given the property's value to them.

Brandishing the weapons is quite another thing.

I would probably have some rooms similar to some of those. Unless I could talk my kids and grandkids into coming and living with us, my lottery dream home would not be anywhere near that size though.

But I do love me some library and wood paneling and painted ceilings lol.

conversely, I have often also dreamed of having a home shaped like the Starship Enterprise with the bridge being my home theater room.

Lemme win the lottery first and then we'll see if past or future wins the design budget.

I don't think the plain 'ol Florida Lotto will cover all the places I need to have homes - STARTING with something in Dallas so I can get season tickets for the Cowboys.

Assuming we ever get to go to public events again. :/

I hear Costa Rico is nice - and I loved the tiny little slice of it I got to see when we stopped there on a cruise once. But there is definitely a beach somewhere in my Lottery winning plans.
