Supreme Court refuses to block upcoming federal executions
Source: Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) The Supreme Court on Monday refused to block the execution of four federal prison inmates who are scheduled to be put to death in July and August.
The executions would mark the first use of the death penalty on the federal level since 2003.
The justices rejected an appeal from four inmates who were convicted of killing children. Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor noted that they would have blocked the executions from going forward.
The courts action leaves no obstacles standing in the way of the executions, the first of which is scheduled for July 13.

And that's what brought the Confederate flag down at the State House in SC.

A good point about death penalty in general though I do agree on that
One of them thought maybe he was getting a better place to stay while already serving a life sentence on another murder
In October 2001, Purkey admitted to killing Long. Having transported her across the state line, a federal crime, Purkey hoped he could serve his life sentence in what he deemed to be a more comfortable federal prison rather than a state prison. Bad plan on his part.
Prosecutors sought the death penalty.
Purkey recanted his confession, but in 2004, he was sentenced to death
