Kansas counties could make governor's mask order toothless

MISSION, Kan. (AP) — Gov. Laura Kelly’s planned order requiring Kansas residents to wear masks to slow the spread of the coronavirus could be toothless in many parts of the state.

Counties can exempt themselves and even those that don’t might not enforce it.

Officials in some counties already were signaling Tuesday that they planned to opt-out of the mandate Kelly plans to have take effect Friday.

She plans to make masks mandatory in stores, restaurants, and in any situation where social distancing cannot be maintained.

They don't care how much sickness and death not wearing a mask causes, because they're the

Republicans can't STAND that our positive cases are fairly low along with deaths. She had a slow re-open phase which most Republican led County commissioners ignored and opened cities wide open.

2. its not just Kansas..in every state where masking is mandated there are sheriffs and other law..

....who have said they WILL NOT enforce it. And one of the counties bordering my county is the BUGGIEST county on the West Coast and the sheriff there said NOPE not gonna enforce masking...

8. The crappy thing about this statement is that...

these county residents don't stay within their county limits. Many travel to other counties for work and personal reasons, especially at this time of year. I live in San Diego county, and we see a huge influx of people from LA and Orange Counties every weekend from Memorial Day to Labor especially, so trusting counties to be held accountable doesn't mean diddly squat to counties that see these visitors.

Why do they do this? It will always end in one of two ways: They'll have to change their tune when (metaphorically) "enough" dead bodies are piled on their doorstep or their lifeless body is hanging, upside down, from a lamp post.
