Trump retweets game show host who said CDC is lying about coronavirus to hurt him politically

Source: The Hill

President Trump on Monday shared a tweet from game show host Chuck Woolery, who claimed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other sources of information are lying about the coronavirus pandemic to hurt him in November's election.

"The most outrageous lies are the ones about Covid 19. Everyone is lying. The CDC, Media, Democrats, our Doctors, not all but most ,that we are told to trust," Woolery tweeted. "I think it's all about the election and keeping the economy from coming back, which is about the election. I'm sick of it."

It is the latest instance of Trump undercutting the guidance of his administration's own public health agencies amid a pandemic that has infected millions globally and killed more than 135,000 people in the United States. Trump has frequently ignored CDC guidance over the last few months as the pandemic has worsened in the U.S.

And Trump last week complained that the CDC's guidelines for schools resuming in-person learning were too "tough & expensive." "While they want them open, they are asking schools to do very impractical things. I will be meeting with them!!!" Trump tweeted.

Woolery hasn’t been a game show host for decades, his current gig is selling “painless” catheters in tv ads.

I'm consistently astonished by the Republican preference for happy bafflegab instead of honest information from real experts in their fields. It's the main reason they've just got to go.

and I know he's not bad, he's just not capable of deep thought. They'll print his tweets, but in that his well ain't deep they'll never interview him.

I know if someone sat down with him and asked him a few questions, he'd come off that "Covid is being used to throw the election" crap. I know I got him to come off the "the press is picking on GWB's daughters" crap when I pointed out how vicious Republicans were to Chelsea Clinton who hadn't even been caught drinking underage with a fake ID.

The problem is he lives in Horse Shoe Bay where's he's surrounded by serious John Birchers who really believe the crap that Chuck only picks up a few talking points about.

he's still voting for Trump in Nov. The funny thing is: Trump - win or lose these guys have nothing to lose either way, they already have all the money they'll ever spend. Their lives won't change so much when Biden wins, like it really didn't when Obama was in office - they actually got richer.

Some of these archconservatives are starting to die out.

Some of us have lost people through this and don’t have much of a sense of humor left when it comes to the conspiracy theory crap being perpetuated. Some of us actually feel that takes time and energy away from getting accurate information out to people so that there is a consistent message.

But hey, we ARE all different. Enjoy your beer. Peace.

Chuck Woolery formed and fronted a psychedelic pop band, the Avant-Garde, in the late 1960s. The band recorded a single, "Naturally Stoned", that hit #40 on the pop chart in the summer of 1968. That might help explain things.
