Trump knocks 'Radical Left smear machine' after Goya boycott calls

Source: The Hill

President Trump knocked the “Radical Left smear machine” on Wednesday after several people called for a boycott of Goya Foods after the CEO praised the president last week.

The president tweeted that the company “is doing GREAT,” adding that “The Radical Left smear machine backfired, people are buying like crazy!”

Goya Foods has faced scrutiny in the past few days after the CEO Robert Unanue said during a speech at the White House last week that the U.S. is “truly blessed” to have “a leader like President Trump.”

Unanue’s speech sparked the hashtags #BoycottGoya and #GoyaFoods to trend on social media after people criticized the company known for selling Latin American supplies like garbanzo beans.

It was an opportunity to try new products and we found that DeCecco is actually better tasting (and better texture) than Barilla.

And if DeCecco doesn't have what we need, I'll buy the store-brand or other "off brand" before picking up Barilla again.

Barillla has had one of the best company turnaround stories I've ever seen. When I stumbled upon it I wrote this DU OP:

"OK, I'm willing to start buying Barilla Pasta again"

and because it targets Hispanics, I assumed it would be a better choice than a brand based in a red state. Now that I know I was 100% wrong, I will not be buying from them again.

Report: Goya Foods rejects sale to retain family leadership

New Jersey-based and family-owned Goya Foods decided it will not sell the company to the Carlyle Group, according to The New York Post. The newspaper quoted sources saying the Unanue family wanted to continue running the Latin American food giant after the sale, but the private equity firm wanted to take over and take Goya public.

I know my latino friends AND Jamaican friends are heartbroken about not using Goya any more (Really. It's a real "home" thing, a "mom's cooking" thing, that a few of my friends have said is very hard to give up.) but they are determined to boycott and not go back.

cans, but in a pinch its nice to have a can or two of their black beans or red beans to go to. I've been a major fan for three decades, I am willing to go cold turkey, I've got AOC's adobo sauce recipe, I can use more expensive organic ingredients. But I admit this is tough because they make good and inexpensive products. I sure hope another Hispanic source pops up.

Jul 2020

You put the content you want to repeat over and over again in the headline (in this case "Radical Left Smear Machine" ) , then write whatever anodyne content you want about it. The headline repeats in newsfeeds and in places like this (it helps if some folks always post these stories), and gets that amplification and traction. Over and over and over. It's not a bug, but a feature.

Note how many The Hill headline include specific content that the Trump campaign wants repeating across networks. They do it deliberately.
