U.S. coronavirus data already disappeared after Trump administration shifted control from CDC to HHS

Source: CNBC

Previously public data has already disappeared from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website after the Trump administration quietly shifted control of the information to the Department of Health and Human Services.

Since the pandemic began, the CDC has regularly published data on availability of hospital beds and intensive care units across the country. But when Ryan Panchadsaram, who helps run a data-tracking site called Covid Exit Strategy, said he tried to collect the data from the CDC on Tuesday, it disappeared.

“We were surprised because the modules that we normally go to were empty. The data wasn’t available and not there,” he said. “There was no warning.”

CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield told reporters on a conference call Wednesday that states were told to stop sending hospital information to the National Healthcare Safety Network site, the CDC’s system for gathering data, beginning Wednesday. Instead, all data will now be reported through HHS’ reporting portal, officials said, adding that the decision was made to streamline data reporting and to provide HHS officials with real-time data.

The cumulative curve is still the same, just shifted on the x axis.
Life insurance claims are typically filed in days.
Funeral home directors tell clients to file during the arrangement phase.
Insurance companies get the death data in under a week, and death certificate shows cause of death.
Also, sick but unhospitalized patients going to doctor or clinic do not see it more than a few days after. Discharge is simultaneous to the end of the office visit.

Trump lost interest in doing anything about containing the virus around the time the news broke that the virus resulted in far more deaths of African Americans and Hispanics. Republicans don’t actually care about real people, and they’re gambling that the virus will not hurt their voters as much as it hurts Democratic voters. Sounds crazy, I know. But there is just no other rationale I can think of for continuing to downplay the severity of this virus. Just supporting Trump doesn’t seem enough when it makes you look like a fool in your own state.

They will reclassify deaths as non-covid, then release deceptive totals. Desatos is already doing that.. His state totals are far lower in counties that publish their own data, yet the media only reports "official" state or wh totals.

So they are hiding the dead - under a pile of bureaucracy and lies. And america will buy it. Criminal.

Sounds like the Johns Hopkins site will be the go-to now.

"Dr. Jennifer Nuzzo, an epidemiologist at Johns Hopkins University, which runs one of the most popular third-party coronavirus data dashboards, said the policy change won’t impact the Hopkins site because they’ve managed to source their data directly from states. She added, however, that the policy change raises questions about the transparency of the data and the role of the CDC in the ongoing U.S. response."

And if states are already managing to hide data, well, heck.

With all their policies now. Hiding the real numbers shows intent to deceive, again from trump , who accused others of doing just that. He doesn't care if you die, and has done everything in his powers to hurt this country, the opposite of his claims , and republicans are saying nothing and complicit. They just thought the Mid Terms was bad for them.
