Oregon To Sue Federal Agencies Over Protest Enforcement

Excerpt:
According to DOJ spokeswoman Kristina Edmunson, the suit will accuse the agencies of engaging in unlawful law enforcement in violation of the civil rights of Oregon citizens by seizing and detaining them without probable cause.
State attorneys will ask a judge to issue a temporary restraining order blocking federal officers from the ratcheted-up enforcement that has been in play since the Fourth of July weekend.
The DOJ also plans to announce a criminal investigation in the case of a peaceful demonstrator was shot in the head with an impact munition on July 12, Edmunson said.
The pending lawsuit, which would be the second filed against federal authorities on Friday, comes after reporting by OPB that revealed federal agents have detained peaceful protesters using unmarked vehicles, with little explanation or indication of which agency they belong to or why people are being taken into custody.

(3,408 posts)...but isn't this exactly the scenario envisioned by gun fetishists? This sounds like someone could claim second amendment privilege.

(10,039 posts)I'd almost rather they try to pressure the feds to back off by bringing this practice to light and putting it on blast. Don't give them a chance to have thus codified by a court.

(3,408 posts)The city that I love is under siege. The anarchists, the police, and now Trump 's brownshirts have arrived to extend the chaos that had started to wind down in the past few days.
This is now an extension of the dictator's political theater. The mayor wants them gone. The governor wants them gone. Our two senators want them gone.
I want them gone.

(25,331 posts)I thought maybe it was private militia stuff. But DHS says they won't put names on the officers, cuz they would be "targets"..Now they could be mercenaries hired by the feds.
This whole thing stinks
Someone was, arrested,, blindfolded and taken to a location and was told it was a federal courthouse. The blindfold was never removed, so no proof it was a court house. Person was not charged and was released after a few hours. . US Marshals denied it ever happened.

(11,885 posts)And put a stop to this , and to show trump has consequences , or he'll escalate illegal acts against Americans . All those involved who took part in carrying out illegal orders need consequences too, or more will be coming from trump.

(333 posts)Did it ever occur to anybody that they were not feds, but militia groups? Why would the feds need to hide, they never have before, why now? BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT FEDS!! WHY IS THE MEDIA CALLING THEM UNMARKED FEDS. ARE THEY AFRAID TO MENTION THAT THEY MAY BE MILITIA AND PARA MILITARY MERCENARIES DRESSED UP TO LOOK LEGAL? ARE THEY AVOIDING THE POSSIBILITY OF PANICKING THE PUBLIC THAT WERE BEING TAKEN OVER BY EXTREMISTS?
If trump is allowed to do whatever he wants, then why would he be afraid to used the feds. Why would he hide. He can be as bold as he wants and nobody will do anything.
They are either black ops CIA or some contracted militia group. They're dressed up as feds so as not to alarm "good" people.

(2,579 posts)And, Ken Cucinneli has declared that they are going to use the same tactics in other states as well. Please see the post on the main front page of DU. Scroll down past the main posts to the lower half of the page. I agree with Governor Brown of Oregon. This is political theatre so Agolf Twitler can score political points in Ohio and Iowa. It is also unlawful and Oregon's attorney general is suing the federal government.
