Trump orders flags to fly at half-staff after Lewis's death

Source: The Hill

President Trump on Saturday ordered flags to fly at half-staff following the death of civil rights icon and longtime congressman Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga).

Trump issued a proclamation which stated that the act was “a mark of respect for the memory and longstanding public service” of Lewis, who died on Friday at the age of 80.

The flags will fly at half-staff for the remainder of the day all across the world, including at the White House, all public buildings, military posts and stations, U.S. embassies and consular offices abroad, as well as naval vessels.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) earlier Saturday had ordered flags at the U.S. Capitol to be flown at half-staff, according to her deputy chief of staff Drew Hammill.

Maybe he learned his lesson from the universal condemnation he received for begrudgingly lowering the WH flag for less than half a day when the Senator died, and refusing to issue a proclamation for the rest of the U.S. flags to be lowered.

After overwhelming criticism from both parties, he finally relented and ordered flags lowered until McCain's internment, issuing a brief "thoughts and prayers toward the family" tweet and refused to answer press questions about the Senator's long service to the country.

It will interesting to see how strongly his racist tendencies will come out with a man who stood against everything Trump and his base cherish.

I thought the flags were already flying at half staff to honor the victims killed by the Trump Virus. With the order from Trump to fly flags at half staff to honor (Member of Congress) MC John Lewis, does that mean that they are lowered to half of half? ¼? some flags might even touch the ground depending on their size. *sarcasm*
