House conservatives pile on Cheney at GOP conference meeting
Source: Politico
Members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus tore into Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) during a heated GOP conference meeting on Tuesday, lobbing attacks at her for breaking with President Donald Trump, supporting Dr. Anthony Fauci and backing a primary opponent to one of their colleagues.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), a Freedom Caucus co-founder and one of Trumps top allies, called out Cheney, the GOP conference chairwoman, for all the times she has opposed Trump and began ticking off some recent high-profile examples, according to two sources in the room. While Jordan praised her defense of Trump during impeachment, he also said Cheneys recent rebukes of Trump which have focused on Trumps handling of the coronavirus, his Twitter rhetoric, and his foreign policy were not helpful.
Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), the head of the Freedom Caucus, even accused Cheney of undermining the GOPs ability to win back the House and said that if someone has a problem with Trump, they should keep it to themselves.
Cheney responded to the criticism from her colleagues by saying she disagrees with Jordans assessment and making clear her views are her own.

I guess I will get into it.

Why Liz Cheney Is So Determined to Marginalize Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar
The Wyoming Republican has resorted to outrageous lies to vilify the first two Muslim women in the House. Shes practicing the ugliest form of divide-and-conquer politics. But it wont work.

(8,841 posts)Sounds like Andy Biggs is well aware of Trump's problems, but would rather not address them. After all, it's better to reelect a defective president and protect their seats in the Congress than it is to serve the interests of the people.
Not that I'm a supporter of Liz Cheney, but she does sometimes do the right thing.

(52,579 posts)on Liz Cheney's side, at least in this particular case. She has been right a few times recently. It will be interesting to see if she holds on to her seat while so many around her don't. That said, I don't really expect to agree with her too often, but she does get credit when she is right. Meanwhile, she has voted with Trump 97% of the time.

(96,882 posts)Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) is calling on House GOP Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney (Wyo.) to step down or be removed from her leadership role following a heated confrontation during a House GOP conference meeting on Tuesday morning.
Gaetz accused Cheney, the third-ranking House GOP member, of working behind the scenes and in public against President Trump, making the charges on Twitter and on his podcast.
"I do not believe that Liz Cheney is the right person to lead the House Republican Conference into this upcoming November election, Gaetz said in a podcast exclusively obtained by The Hill in advance of its release.
