At least 15 people were shot outside a Chicago funeral home in a drive-by shootout during a ceremony for a man who was killed in an earlier drive-by shooting, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The city's mayor and police officials are urging the public to come forward with information to help end the cycle of violence.

An unknown number of people inside a vehicle shot at a crowd attending a funeral on West 79th Street in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The individuals on the street then exchanged gunfire with the people in the vehicle, according to authorities.

Brown told reporters during a news conference Monday that the funeral was for a man who was recently killed during a drive-by shooting in the Englewood neighborhood. Two police cars were deployed to the funeral home and a tactical team was in the area as a precaution once the police got word of the ceremony, according to Brown.

I am watching the long segment on Chicago Tonight right now, including panel with Father Pfleger and several anti-violence activists from Auburn Gresham.

The police were INFORMED by community neighbors that there would be trouble at this funeral ( texts were displayed as evidence), and the police did not come. Great anger right now that no one will protect them.

Not everything is a conspiracy involving Donald Trump. Unless we address the economic deprivations in these communities that lead to this violence, instead of devising conspiracy theories for our political pleasure, this will not stop.

These gangs/guns/drugs retributions and shootings are real. And they affect all of us.
