Republican Party officials hid COVID-19 mask purchases by labeling them 'building maintenance' in federal disclosures
Think "building maintenance," and you probably imagine plumbing, a new coat of paint, or a replacement toilet-paper dispenser.
But when the Republican National Committee in June spent more than $14,000 on "building maintenance," none of its facilities were getting a face-lift.
Instead, the RNC purchased face masks designed to limit the spread of COVID-19, according to Insider interviews and a review of federal campaign-finance disclosures released earlier this week.
The RNC ordered the masks at a time when President Donald Trump and other prominent Republicans were refusing to cover their faces in public. The purchases show Republican leaders were taking the coronavirus more seriously than they'd been publicly letting on.

Of course the Republicans are disingenuous liars about the pandemic. They were actively discouraging people from wearing masks; they didn't care that this was causing needless deaths.

(15,805 posts)If Republicans aren't lying, then they're stealing something. Their constituents are no better as supportive enablers. The Republican base voter is not interested in anything that doesn't match the approved party propaganda. That would require an effort in critical thinking, an underdeveloped skill set for any rightwinger.
As a consequence, Republican politicians enjoy a fact free public career unburdened by troublesome truths because their supporters will let them get away with everything, either through apathy or agreement.

Legal Definition of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act
made criminal enterprise, or illicit activity that is run like a business, illegal and applied harsh penalties to those engaged in it. RICO and later amendments include provisions against fraud, corruption, violence, and activity in furtherance of human trafficking and slavery. It allows federal prosecutors broad powers to attack organized crime elements or other groups involved in certain patterns of illicit conduct. It has been used successfully against a wide variety of offenders, and many states have modeled laws on its provisions.

How many library rooms would it take to list every crime committed by this malicious criminal organization?

(9,971 posts)Under Jared's orders FEMA confiscated many shipments of supplies ordered by states. Do we even know what happened to those supplies? Did Jared sell them on the black market as Trump suggested NY hospitals were doing? Trump projects the illegal/unethical things he is doing on others, so that suggests that he or Jared was profiting from confiscated shipments.

... The directive from the White House management office was laid out in a memo to staffers Monday afternoon, NBC reported. ... The memo also asked staff members to avoid visiting the West Wing, where the Oval Office is located, unless it is necessary, the sources told NBC.
