SF Muni driver beaten with bat after telling passengers to wear masks

Source: San Francisco Chronicle

A San Francisco Muni bus driver was beaten with a bat Wednesday by passengers who refused to wear face masks at the driver’s instruction, officials said.

Three men with no face coverings boarded the bus around 3:30 p.m. at 11th and Division Streets in the SoMa district, according to San Francisco police.
...

The bus driver, who was not identified, asked the passengers multiple times to don face coverings, but they refused, police said.

Wasn't so long ago that cameras on SF public transit were exposed as unconnected or nonfunctional.
My apartment building has signs all over warning of "24hr surveillance" but not a single camera.
Local laundromat has "cameras" that are painfully obviously not real.
Oh! And the police have body cams that seem to malfunction whenever they're needed!

This story is about SF Municipal transit. Two completely different agencies.

give the identical number of f***s about public safety.

My point was, the existence of "cameras" doesn't guarantee that they're functioning...or connected...or real.

It's about an assault on one of their employees. Although they should be equally concerned about either, I think this will get more attention.

The MAGAt-in-chief is now saying it's "patriotic" to wear a mask.

I hope the driver is all right, and I hope they catch these hoodlums.

Be on the lookout for their defense attorneys insisting that these fine upstanding young gentlemen were on their way to/from a baseball game with neighborhood children, or some equally outlandish excuse.

It'd be pretty low on the list of places in the US where I'd necessarily expect an attack from armed MAGAt's. I mean it's not Telegraph and University in Berkeley, but ... that part of town isn't a hotbed of White Power, put it like that.

Course these punks could in theory be from anywhere.

I'd also mention that there are very few, in my experience, bus drivers in the City who are not POC. This could easily be a racist attack that we only THINK was actually about masks.

Refuse to wear a mask makes them easily identifiable on camera! Local authorities need to use social media to identify them. Then they can also be doxed, lose their jobs, etc.

There should be criminal charges brought against an individual who beat the driver.

It can be assault without physical contact. They obviously long jumped that line by 20 feet.
Aggregated A&B, seems to apply.
