Trump campaign hits pause on TV ad spending for 'review' of messaging strategy

Source: NBC

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump's campaign has virtually disappeared from the airwaves as it undertakes "a review and fine-tuning of the campaign's strategy" as an official put it after the replacement of campaign manager Brad Parscale.

With less than 100 days until Election Day, the Trump campaign spent virtually nothing on television or radio ads on Wednesday and Thursday, according to data from Advertising Analytics. And it has effectively nothing booked through August.

-snip-

When asked about the lack of spending, a Trump campaign official pointed to the decision earlier this month to demote Parscale and elevate deputy campaign manager Bill Stepien to fill that role.

As part of a broader strategy to shift the public's focus from to coronavirus to fears over crime and anarchy, the campaign has so far put most of its money behind a spot that attacks Biden over Democratic calls to "defund the police." Advertising Analytics data shows the campaign has spent almost $17 million to run the spot on broadcast and national cable since the beginning of July.

They wasted $17 million on that crappy ad?

They're incompetent. And getting rid of Parscale didn't change that.

Besides, the problem isn't the message.

It's the failed wannabe dictator they're trying to sell.

Flag! Anthem! America! and ever other jingoistic, nationalist exercise into semantics.

Sadly, there are 30% of us that buy into that simplistic form of appeal.

... this time around.

People don't respond well to someone yelling USA! USA! when they've just buried a loved one, can't pay the rent, and don't know if their jobs will even exist when they're able to work again.

There is nothing fundamentally wrong with patriotism, but nationalism is an ugly beast. There is a thin line between the two.

to put lipstick on that pig. He can't talk about the economy, he has to steer clear of talking about the military, Corona is definitely off the table, cant touch foreign policy. I guess the only thing that they can sell is what a good looking and smart Trump is.

They will have to run a totally negative campaign based on lies about Biden. It remains to be seen if they can fabricate enough crap to make Biden look worse than Trump. Get ready for the biggest, no holds barred, shit-slinging contest you have ever seen.

And when you consider he first announced his re-election campaign in January 2017, it's beyond pathetic.

He's correct, he's the best at leading his followers (Elected GOP) into their doom. Give him his reign and let him go. FANTASTIC! AMAZING! PERFECT! Lather, rinse, repeat as Americans die and lose our livelihoods under Trump.

good ol' brad was making a small fortune on that spending and the trump family was making a large fortune. They want to cut out brad, but can't as long as they run ads from his production company.

So now ALL THE MONEY IS GOING DIRECTLY TO THE FAMILY AND NO ADS ARE BEING RUN.

17 million on ads, especially tv ads is a laughable sum 100 days out. Put another zero on it and it may be closer to a realistic spend.

Trump doesn't believe in ads anyway. He believes in unearned coverage. He has a point. Why pay for ads when the media will cover every sneeze and fart you tweet out or utter.

This is all about putting more money into the families pockets, and keeping it out of brads. But wait until they realize brad owns all the data, lists, and has receipts for all payments to the family. He better have a dead man switch. Cause he may slip off an icy roof in August.

I'm sure the money they were going to use has been funneled into various dark Trump accounts. It's the grifters' way.
