A person with Covid-19 may have exposed others at a bar during Sturgis motorcycle rally

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by applegrove (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: CNN

A person who spent hours at a bar during the Sturgis motorcycle rally in South Dakota last week has tested positive for Covid-19, state health officials said Tuesday.

The potential exposure came during the city's 80th annual Sturgis motorcycle rally August 7-16.
Health experts were concerned the mass gathering could be a "super-spreader" event, as many attendees travel from all over the country -- including coronavirus hotspots -- and could bring infections back home when they return.

It only takes one at a crowded bar or other place to start the chain-reaction.

ETA - and there will be no way to "contact trace" that (even if they did cooperate with the tracer staff).
ETA2 - the OP article says there were other positive cases at other events (concert, "gentleman's club", etc) at or near the Sturgis gathering.

to hear what you were yelling about during our drunken conversation. Indoors.

Think about the viral blast that people in his/her group received. There seems to be a connection between the severity of the disease and the viral blast one gets.

5 1/2 hours to yell over the loud music, people leaning in face to face, no masks, getting yelled at by an infected person. People are taking in a deadly amount of viral load.

Then they drive the 2000 miles back home, polluting every rest stop and gas station and tourist trap they visit.

with covid already and likely more since we are undertesting. even with 1 percent and 250K Sturgis participants, this still puts the number at around 2500 at a minimum . These people then can infect 20 to 30 on average each ( and likely more given the nature of the event ).
