Donald Trump to host funeral for brother Robert Trump at White House

Source: ABC

President Donald Trump will have family and friends join him Friday at the White House for a funeral service for his brother, Robert Trump, who died last Friday. Robert Trump's body will also be driven to the White House from New York for the ceremony, according to sources familiar with the arrangements, which are expected to remain private.

The last time a deceased body was brought to the White House was for the funeral services of President John F. Kennedy after he was assassinated in Dallas in November 1963.

The last time that remains were brought to the White House for a funeral there for a private citizen was in 1936 for Louis Howe, an adviser to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his wife, Eleanor Roosevelt.

The Trump family has invited 200 people to attend the services though it's unclear how many plan to attend. The service is expected to be held in the East Room of the White House and a source familiar with the arrangements told ABC News any costs would be covered by the president personally.

I never heard of anyone 'hosting' a funeral.
I guess it's all about 'the Donald'.

She could tell the story about the mashed potatoes....

“When Freddy, at fourteen, dumped a bowl of mashed potatoes on his then-seven-year-old brother’s head, it wounded Donald’s pride so deeply that he’d still be bothered by it when Maryanne brought it up in her toast at the White House birthday dinner in 2017. The incident wasn’t a big deal—or it shouldn’t have been. Donald had been tormenting Robert, again, and nobody could get him to stop. Even at seven, he felt no need to listen to his mother, who, having failed to heal the rift between them after her illness, he treated with contempt. Finally, Robert’s crying and Donald’s needling became too much, and in a moment of improvised expedience that would become family legend, Freddy picked up the first thing at hand that wouldn’t cause any real damage: the bowl of mashed potatoes. Everybody laughed, and they couldn’t stop laughing. And they were laughing at Donald. It was the first time Donald had been humiliated by someone he even then believed to be beneath him.”

Also how much they'll hear about Robert as opposed to his brother.
I seriously doubt that Mary Trump will be there, and expect that she will have a more emotionally satisfied ceremony elsewhere. I'm reading her book right now.

When I think that JFK was the last body to be at the White House, there is NO WAY that this is appropriate. Think of Johnson, Nixon, Reagan, Bush I, and Ford. Not one of them had this honor when they passed away, and neither did their spouses or their children.

But Trump's brother???? Are you kidding me???

Do it at your rat-infested Mar-a-Lago, but not at OUR HOUSE.

During the battle, his leg was hit by French canon fire. The wound was so serious that the Mexican doctors ended up having to amputate his leg. With their general out of commission, the Mexicans payed war reparations to the French in exchange for the French pulling their troops out of Mexico.

Apparently, Santa Anna was very fond of his leg. Four years after the battle of Vera Cruz was over, in one of the most diva-like moments of his life, he had his leg dug up and reburied with full military honors. The funeral included cannon salvos, lengthy speeches, reverent prayers, and beautiful poetry recited in the general’s honor. The leg itself was put into a crystal vase and buried beneath a huge, costly, ridiculously elaborate monument in the Santa Paula cemetery.

Not because he cares about his brother or anyone except himself. His brother's death gives him an excuse to grab the spotlight AND have a pity party.

I would bet one of his motives is to try one-upping Joe Biden's heartbreaking losses of wife, baby daughter and eldest son.

What could be more convenient than a brother's death to try saying, "See everyone, I too have lost close family members and suffered more, I have GREATLY suffered and I will host the GREATEST, most BEAUTIFUL White House funeral the world has ever seen to show everyone that I am COMPASSIONATE and SUFFERING. Let Biden try and top THIS."

Susanne Craig:

They then passed — they passed some of that burden on to their — to their tenants. And that sort of goes into things, including wire fraud, according to the people that we have talked to.

And then there was other things that they did with their father's estate that both border on tax avoidance, tax evasion and tax fraud. And in one instance, just a simple example, Donald Trump has been — his siblings, Robert Trump and Maryanne Barry Trump, they signed off on their father's estate.

And in doing so, they had to verify the accuracy of all the gift returns that were submitted. Some of those had things, like they did — the gifts they knew that they had gotten from All County, they didn't disclose them. And so that becomes again another potential crime that they committed.

I mean even just for DT to gloat a bit and rub it in his face. ...something "close" brothers might do to each other. Points to more BS Trumpian theater IMO.
