Minnesota links 7 more COVID-19 cases to Sturgis

Seven more Minnesotans who attended this month's Sturgis Motorcycle Rally have tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19, state health officials said Sunday.
Minnesota health officials announced on Friday 15 cases that were associated with attending the 10-day event in South Dakota. The annual rally draws motorcyclists from across the country.
Health officials don't know for certain that the 22 people were exposed at the event, but they think it's very likely since individuals are not reporting links to any known cases, said Kris Ehresmann, the director of infectious diseases at the Minnesota Department of Health.
"Unfortunately, I think this is just the beginning of the cases we will see from Sturgis," Ehresmann said via e-mail.

Given all the scenes that were coming from Sturgis, you would almost expect Republicans to feature images from the rally to suggest that COVID-19 is a hoax.

(17,390 posts)...I bet footage like this will be spread to push the idea that COVID-19 is a hoax, because look, no one is wearing masks at Sturgis.
Of course, in three weeks, we should have a better idea of what was the impact of all the folks coming from all over the country into Sturgis, then going back to their respective States.

I wonder when they will post the winner of the sneezing contest.

and then see how many end up in the hospital.

(129,662 posts)I saw earlier reports from SD itself and I think one or more other states but there were people from all over who attended.
August 16th was the last day of the event so we have until at least the end of the month for more (if they even get reported in the news and I expect many who do test positive will lie about where they might have been exposed)...

Might be able to pick one up "on the cheap".
Just kidding - I don't want a Harley. I'd probably hurt myself (I'm not ancient, but I'm certainly not as young as I used to be).
