Suspect in Fatal Portland Shooting Is Killed by Officers During Arrest

Source: New York Times

SEATTLE — A man being investigated in the fatal shooting of a right-wing activist who was part of a pro-Trump caravan in Portland, Ore., was killed on Thursday night when authorities moved to arrest him, according to three law enforcement officials familiar with the investigation.

The officials said the suspect, Michael Forest Reinoehl, 48, was killed during the encounter in Lacey, Wash., southwest of Seattle, when a federal fugitive task force moved to apprehend him.

An arrest warrant had been issued by the Portland police earlier Thursday, on the same day that Vice News published an interview with Mr. Reinoehl in which he appeared to admit to the shooting, saying, “I had no choice.”

The Portland police had been investigating Saturday’s shooting death of Aaron J. Danielson, one of the supporters of President Trump who came into downtown Portland and clashed with protesters demonstrating against racial injustice and police brutality.

Left wing murderers get shot.
Right wing murderers get bottles of water.

And the police wonder why people fucking hate them?

He claimed he acted in self-defense and was conveniently killed before he could get a fair trial.

"Danielson “arrived with an associate hours earlier at a suburban mall in order to offer make-shift security services for the caravan of Trump supporters.” The newspaper described that associate as Chandler Pappas. They were “both wearing matching Patriot Prayer hats, visibly armed with paint ball guns, knives and bearing other tactical gear,”! Looks like two extremists met each other at the wrong place and time! Maybe Reinoehl thought his life was in danger?

Unless there is a lot more than what was in the video then he would have had a very slim chance of getting off on self defense. Looked to me like he was 5 to 10 feet away when he shot the guy kind of far away to get stabbed. Also defending a friend really isn't self defense. If he was not killed his best bet would've been to try and get off on some type of mental defense he sure sounded like he had some sort of savor complex.

The dude was a nut. His own family described him as irrational and impulsive. 2 months ago Bloomberg interviewed him and he claimed he attempted to disarm a man who was in an altercation with black minors as far as I know that's never been confirmed. Sounds like a mentally unstable man with a savor complex. Probably in his mind he really did think it was self defense, but the way it looks it wasn't.

If you go by the ROE the police use. The guy that was shot fired something at the person who did the shooting.

before he was silenced.

I don't know what happened, I wasn't there, and I don't condone what he did if it wasn't self-defense. But I think he knew which side the cops have picked.

There's a video of a black man getting attacked by two white men inside a Waffle House. He shoots one & then does everything right. The cops arrive and he's never charged.

25. Staying at the scene is not an option in these scenarios
Fri Sep 4, 2020, 09:05 AM
Sep 2020

You can’t just call a timeout if there is an angry mob (on either side of the spectrum). In these instances, even if it was justifiable self defense, staying at the scene could result in more violence and/or deaths.

That’s why the duty to retreat has a valid use in self defense, the person should attempt to retreat from the threat first, not confront it. All these folks go looking action, there is no retreat in their motives.

Considering the suspect was killed not too long after giving interview to VICE.

Not surprised by his death during arrest after reading his rambling online manifesto.
