LINCOLN Nebraskans should learn within a week whether they will be able to vote on legalizing medical marijuana in the state.
Supporters and opponents on Thursday presented arguments to the Nebraska Supreme Court about whether a proposed constitutional amendment should be removed from the Nov. 3 ballot. The court must decide the case by Sept. 11 to meet the deadline for certifying the ballot.
Last week, Secretary of State Bob Evnen announced that, while there are a number of problems with the language submitted by Nebraskans for Medical Marijuana, the proposal met the legal requirements to be placed before voters.
Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner immediately challenged that decision. He filed a lawsuit claiming that the measure violates the Nebraska Constitutions requirement that ballot issues stick to a single subject. He also claimed that it would confuse voters and create doubt about what they had decided.

(14,164 posts)Its not a decision to force everyone to smoke pot. Its deciding whether it should be legal to use it, if you so choose.
These right wingers sure love having the Gob'mint tell them what they can and can't do.

Even if we voted it in, it would have to go through courts because they want laws based on their morality, not the Freedom they are always crowing about.
