Trump slams Harris for trying to damage vaccine push
Source: Politico
Donald Trump on Monday suggested Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris is sabotaging a prospective coronavirus vaccine for political ends.
He argued that his political foes are using the unprecedented rapid speed of vaccine research to attack him, creating doubts that may mean people are afraid to take it. "Okay. Let's disparage the vaccine," he said at a Labor Day press conference. "That's so bad for this country. So bad for the world to even say that."
Harris told CNN over the holiday weekend that she would not necessarily trust a vaccine approved by the Trump administration before Election Day, unless a "credible" source agreed it was safe.
The president has doubled down on quixotic promises to deliver a vaccine quickly, suggesting it could come before the election even as his own science officials including the head of the administration's "Operation Warp Speed" contradict him. He repeated those claims at his news conference.

She's just showing the skepticism many of us have. Donny's pushed hydroxychloroquine, internal ultraviolet light treatment and other quack cures.

In a Twitter post, Trump said the deep state or whoever at the FDA was making it very difficult for drug companies to enroll people in clinical trials to test vaccines and therapies for the novel coronavirus.
The comment came after Reuters exclusively reported on Thursday that a top FDA official said he would resign if the Trump administration approved a vaccine before it was shown to be safe and effective.
Obviously, they are hoping to delay the answer until after November 3rd. Must focus on speed, and saving lives! Trump wrote, tagging FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn in the tweet.

(44,972 posts)We have vaccine candidates, and we don't know if any of them are safe and effective.
Trump's desire to get re-elected doesn't change that simple fact.

(3,764 posts)Are in stage 2 or 3, that means they have passed the safe. What we don't know is if they are effective . I wouldn't have volunteered for a vaccine trial in Stage 1 because I couldn't be sure it was safe.
