How Trump's Billion Dollar Campaign Lost It's Cash Advantage

Money was supposed to have been one of the great advantages of incumbency for President Trump, much as it was for President Barack Obama in 2012 and George W. Bush in 2004. After getting outspent in 2016, Mr. Trump filed for re-election on the day of his inauguration earlier than any other modern president betting that the head start would deliver him a decisive financial advantage this year.
It seemed to have worked. His rival, Joseph R. Biden Jr., was relatively broke when he emerged as the presumptive Democratic nominee this spring, and Mr. Trump and the Republican National Committee had a nearly $200 million cash advantage.
Five months later, Mr. Trumps financial supremacy has evaporated. Of the $1.1 billon his campaign and the party raised from the beginning of 2019 through July, more than $800 million has already been spent. Now some people inside the campaign are forecasting what was once unthinkable: a cash crunch with less than 60 days until the election, according to Republican officials briefed on the matter.
Brad Parscale, the former campaign manager, liked to call Mr. Trumps re-election war machine an unstoppable juggernaut. But interviews with more than a dozen current and former campaign aides and Trump allies, and a review of thousands of items in federal campaign filings, show that the presidents campaign and the R.N.C. developed some profligate habits as they burned through hundreds of millions of dollars. Since Bill Stepien replaced Mr. Parscale in July, the campaign has imposed a series of belt-tightening measures that have reshaped initiatives, including hiring practices, travel and the advertising budget.

(13,560 posts)Exorbitant rent for an office in Trump Tower in New York that is never used. All meetings held in Trump Hotels, with exorbitant room rates and meal prices. Personal legal feea being paid out of campaign money, which I think is illegal but of course Trump never lets a little thing like the law stop him.

(2,227 posts)They sure as hell haven't spent 800,000,000 on campaign ads. I'm sure it was looked at as nothing but his own personal slush fund, with as much as possible straight into his pockets.
Just like he has been stealing hundreds of millions, once a complete accounting is tallied, in one way or another, from tax payers.
From the moment he descended the escalator with his whore-wife in tow, this whole con-scam has been nothing but a money grab, for the purpose of an ultimate boost to his "brand", and maximizing his face time on the teevee machine. 'Cause CELEBRITY is what is important to him. But as usual, everything he touches dies, and his "brand" is now shit.
Every penny the turd family has accumulated must be taken back. Laundering russian mobster money warrants RICO, and I am hoping Letitia is lining all of that up, as we type.
We must make sure that he and his family are absolutely miserable every remaining day of his, and their (hopefully short) lives.

(876 posts)2016. I remember speaking to a trumper at a Halloween party right before the election. He had absolutely no knowledge of trump's many bankruptcies or lawsuits against him for not paying his debts. When trump loses in November (and he absolutely will), his supporters are going to be shocked. They think he's rich. They think he's loved. They think he's smart. They think he's successful. They think he has hair. They don't think he's a drug addict. They think he can read. And he's none of those things.

(4,269 posts)Trump's niece mentions his ADHD. He very likely has had a long-time prescription to use when he needs to focus.
That's how my ADHD students used Adderall or other medications. Stimulants calm and focus rather than hype up ADHD students. That's why he would take it before a speech.
I'd be surprised to find he is snorting it. Most likely he ingests it.

(32,761 posts)Many drug addicts take legal prescription drugs. An argument can be made that the #1 cause of death in the US comes from prescription drugs.
I was on Amiodarone for a year for my A-fib. I had to be tested every 6 months because it effects the lungs, liver, and cornea of the eyes. I am now off Amiodarone because I had a successful ablation to fix my A-fib. I went to an opthamologist who confirmed that I had deposits of Amiodarone on my cornea. The Amiodarone has since dissipated from my cornea since I am off it. Prescription drugs cure one area but many times have adverse effects in other areas.

(22,727 posts)Was just reading that story. This is the most telling part....
Instead of working on strategy to win, he's worried about running out of cash. They spent 11 million on Super Bowl ads. Wha??? Who spends that kind of cash for a couple minutes 11 months before the election?!
Oh, I get it now.....
Sucker!!!! That's an old trick and shit head fell for it. Dumb ass.

(8,492 posts)The best thieves and grifters that is. Sooner or later you're left asking the question 'Where did all that money go?
Even Donald is stealing from his own relection campaign funds...has been from the very start.

(20,807 posts)Better check Trump's bank accounts, because I'm sure some of that money managed to stray into his accounts, foreign and domestic. He stole millions from his inaugural funds, and you can bet he's been siphoning money from his re-election campaign. Of course he's probably paid $200 million of that to Attorneys to keep his blubbery ass out of prison.

(5,156 posts)I ran the campaign the same way I did in 2016, which also included all of the marketing, strategy and expenses under the very close eye of the family, said Mr. Parscale

(98,883 posts)That implies that he is running out of money, and that he believes he has a good chance to win

(32,761 posts)that he stole for his campaign. Trump will never use his own money if there are other ways around it.

(1,789 posts)how about you use a cleverly crafted sentence about regulation instead of using two brand new pickup trucks and a crane? They spent money like sailors on shore leave but it looks like donors are seeing him as a bad bet.
