WASHINGTON Last month, we said that when Joe Biden is leading a presidential race consistently by double digits nationally, it shouldnt be surprising to see him exceed 300 electoral votes in election projections.
And now that some of those same national polls are more in the 7- to 8-point range, its not surprising that Bidens lead is lower than 300 electoral votes, but higher than the 270 needed to win.
Thats where we have Biden versus Trump in our second battleground map of 2020, which is based on public and private polling, as well as conversations with strategists watching the presidential race.
Biden is at 290 electoral votes, Trump is at 163 and 85 are in the Toss Up category. Our August battleground map was Biden 334, Trump 125 and Toss Up 79.

(7,654 posts)her averages before and after weren't anywhere close to the sustained lead Biden's been enjoying.
Second, I get it, folks are still gun shy after 2016, but again, 2020 is NOT 2016.
Third, there are a plethora of differences between the two elections.

538 is flip flopping with their position as well. enten on Saturday said Bidens lead was not as big as being reported. Turns around the next day and says Biden has maintained his lead well and this is one of the most stable races EVER!

(55,133 posts)Still wondering about 2 calls I got about 10 days ago. One said they were from the Democratic Party and wanted to know how I was going to vote, but was really only interested in Biden. And knew little about the Congressional race here. hmmm.
A few days later got a call from a preacher, who was following up his end times letter ... a real wacko ... he got as far as "We live in perilous times ..." and I let him have it.
Coincidence? Am I paranoid? Or is it a rogue operation to ferret out weak Democrats .... dunno. Posting so perhaps others have odd things happening and can compare notes.

(13,642 posts)I say Putin is setting up the same scenario again, but the mail in ballots are going to throw this off, hence what Trump is saying about and doing to mail in voting.
So yeah, we'll need a MUCH bigger lead than that.
