Republicans call for Judiciary hearing into unrest in cities run by Democrats

Source: The Hill

...

In a letter sent to Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) on Tuesday, the GOP lawmakers accused Democrats of failing to prevent violence or condemn far-left activist groups like antifa, and argued that a stronger stance needs to be taken to keep cities safe and prevent the destruction of property.

“Dear Chairman Nadler: Violent left-wing extremists are destroying Democrat-run American cities. As parts of these cities literally burn, prominent Democrat leaders look the other way on lawlessness and disorder. Even you, the chairman of the powerful Judiciary Committee with a unique platform to denounce left-wing violence, have trivialized it as ‘imaginary’ and a ‘myth,’” the Republicans wrote.

“The Democrats’ acceptance and tacit encouragement of violence has real consequences. It is beyond time that you forcefully denounce left-wing violent extremism and convene a Committee hearing to examine the civic unrest plaguing Democrat-run cities,” they added.

The letter was led by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), the top GOP lawmaker on the panel, and signed by Reps. Ken Buck (R-Colo.), Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.), who are all Judiciary subcommittee ranking members. The argued that “left-wing agitators” have been exploiting peaceful protests against systematic racism, citing sometimes violent protests in cities including Portland, Ore.; Seattle, Wash.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Kenosha, Wis.; Washington, D.C. and New York City.

want to keep wasting taxpayer money (e.g. repealing the ACA 50+ times and the time and money on 4 dead people in Libya)?

What they should really focus on is establishing policies so they become popular enough to win the House. Another thing would be to study the Oath they swore to obey, instead of violating it on a daily basis. This is the BEST of their ability? OMFG.

1. BLM matter protesters were peaceful
2. Fed goons sent to PXT and Seattle aggravated the situation
3. Looters, burners were boogaloo types that mixed with the protesters for cover
4. None of #4 were actually from the community or even the state
5. Social media hate groups made it easier for them to organize
6. Injuries and deaths were caused by police brutality or by other militants
7. That many of the boogaloo types were incited by your idiot orange king to be violent
Stick it where the sun don’t shine!!

The Republican call of every man for himself does not work well in compressed, interdependent situations. So say the citizens.

That means in Trump's eyes it can't be a "democrat" city.

Every time I hear someone on Fox carping about "democrat cities" with their high crime rates, homelessness, and debt, I scream "TAMPA! As if they don't have the same problems all cities have.

First thing, NO city in the U.S. is like Singapore - independent to itself. All of them have have to compete with positions, jobs and tax base with other areas of the U.S. Many cities, particularly eastern cities, have a cramped size that is the legacy of times when workers had to live next to streetcar lines. Dallas is 2 1/2 times the size of Pittsburgh, even if their metropolitan areas have about the same number of people.

Second, Democrats tend to run cities because Republicans, by and large, don't WANT to run them. Their model is to milk the resentments of rural and suburban whites while treating cities as some irredeemable Bantustans. I'll bet Newt Gingrich never considered running for Mayor of Atlanta for a moment.
