Cotton attacks Roe v. Wade right after making Trump's Supreme Court shortlist

The Arkansas Republican tweeted: 'It's time for Roe v. Wade to go.'
Donald Trump on Wednesday announced a list of people he would consider appointing to the Supreme Court should he win another term in office, including three Republican senators: Ted Cruz of Texas, Tom Cotton of Arkansas, and Josh Hawley of Missouri.
All three men are vocally anti-abortion. Cotton reminded the public of that minutes after Trump said the Arkansas senator is among those he's considering for the court.
"It's time for Roe v. Wade to go," Cotton tweeted.
Supreme Court justices are supposed to be neutral, deciding cases based on the Constitution rather than on their personal political convictions.

(7,596 posts)Arkansas is red, but it doesnt seem to be Alabama red. Theyve had a decent number of Democratic Senators (Dale Bumpers, Blanche Lincoln, the two Pryors) in the past 25 years. Im not saying that a hypothetical opponent would beat this skinny warmongerer, but none at all is just pathetic.

(15,801 posts)At least they could have put a young up and comer candidate in there and given the person experience and name recognition during the race. And heck, at least shut cotton up for some months.

(7,596 posts)I see it as unlikely that he could win the nomination based on that.
Tucker Carlson has that locked.

(291 posts)So, we are down to the wire with election day so close and they are going to try this little tactic. Who will be more motivated at the polls...women, who are already leaning away from dump, or will this little charade drive the evangelicals to the poles.
This is down to women... the largest group in this country. Everything trump touches dies... this little stunt will backfire.

(296 posts)To ALL OF US IF some people don't vote. If you don't vote or vote third party we will get Tom Cotton! It doesn't get MORE REAL than this!

(296 posts)This is a crucial campaign tactic! Its a bribe to the right, come out to vote and I'll stack the SCOTUS with religious zealots. Be very afraid! There has been a long term goal of Dominionists to turn this country into a theocracy through elections and stacking our courts! Think no abortion, no birth control, no separation of church and state, Christianity based OFFICIAL religion of the US, Christian prayers in school, prison and death sentences for gays. How far do zealots go....just look back on history.
