Trump spurns traditional debate prep with first faceoff less than 3 weeks away

Source: NBC News

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump has not held a single mock debate session, and has no plans to stage a formal practice round, as he readies for his first faceoff with Joe Biden in less than three weeks, according to multiple people familiar with the discussions.

The president has dismissed the typical debate preparations he participated in four years ago, joking to aides and allies that he’s been preparing for debates since he was born. His ability to fire back at an opponent in real time, he’s argued, “isn’t something you have to practice.”

Instead, Trump has so far chosen to prepare through informal discussions with key allies and with briefings from top officials in his administration on various topics that are likely to come up, these people said.

“It’s not the traditional, ‘we need Chris Christie to fill in and play Hillary Clinton’ like we did four years ago,” one of the president’s allies said, referring to the former New Jersey governor who has helped Trump prepare in the past.

Although effective on some, those lies don't stand up - they are superficial and without the substance of truth and reality. Biden's team has been preparing since the GOP convention by saying things designed to force Trump to react in ways that alienate undecided voters with the naked and blunt truth. I am still waiting for the Biden/Harris campaign to wage war on Trump being weak - the one narrative Trump has been fixated on. I have been waiting for almost 2 decades for the Democrats to bring back 'Buy American', and God bless Joe - he is doing it.

That is a fear I don't share. He lost all 3 debates 4 years ago. When he speaks without a teleprompter the result is a word salad even worst than Sarah Palin at her worst. We should know from each candidate's opening remarks how the evening will play out.

He was at his worst in the least important debate, the second one. His expectations were extremely low going into the final debate, and he gained a little after that.

Go ahead and pull "facts" out of your fat ass, like you always do, and Joe will hand you your other a--, er, head--on a platter. Be a dickhead and think your "stable genius" will get you through this, and they will pick you up afterward with a sponge.

The clown is pure chaos, there is no prep with him. He always blathers on about whatever surface thought he has at the moment and his staff scrambles to make it policy later.

I do wonder what Joe Biden thinks of facing this idiot. Personally, I think its a waste of time. But its tradition, and Biden will make a juicy scandal for himself the media would love to flog him with if he turned down a debate with Trump.

This is going to be a total shit-show. All Biden can do is not to rise to Trumps antics and appear like a sane alternative to the grunting orange asshole.

He has to be prepped and have at the ready, all the sourced information to counter all of the predicted lying Trump will be doing. Even with the proof, it will still be "well that's fake news". But Joe has to be prepped not only with Democratic platform policies, but how to combat a weasely lying sleezy POS like Trump. Combating someone who lies constantly, and confidently, is harder than it seems. I hope his team has a plan for that. Because any kind of simple "yes you did"...."no I didn't" cycle won't work.
