Florida reports 202 new COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday

Source: Associated Press

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Florida reported more than 200 coronavirus deaths Wednesday, the highest mark in about three weeks but one that likely reflects fatalities that occurred over several days.

The 202 new COVID-19 deaths reported likely reflect a lag in reporting caused by the three-day holiday weekend. The number of deaths reported usually drop over the weekend, before going higher as the week progresses as the lag is eliminated.

The new update brings the average daily reported deaths over the past week to 88. That figure has generally been on a downward trend over the past month, since a high seven-day average of 185 on Aug. 5. The overall deaths in Florida stand at 12,269.

The number of people being treated for COVID-19 in hospitals also has been on a downward trend, since late July highs of more than 9,500. There were 3,081 patients in the late morning Wednesday, according to a hospital bed census posted online by the state.

Florida hasn’t announced more than 200 deaths a day in about three weeks, so is this just an anomaly of the start of a new trend?

Nothing more. Probably a hoax even...

Can't have a panic or mass hysteria.

Might put a ding in the High Dow.
