New poll confirms Republicans' wariness of voting by mail

Source: Washington Post

A new Washington Post-University of Maryland poll finds that while Democrats are split on whether they prefer to vote in person or by mail, 71 percent of Republicans say they prefer to vote in person, with 21 percent preferring to vote by mail and 9 percent preferring to drop off their ballot.

There’s evidence that Trump’s frequent warnings about mail voting are persuading Republicans to avoid it: While 95 percent of people who say they’re definitely voting for Trump are confident that their ballot cast in person on Election Day will be counted accurately, that goes down to 45 percent when asked how confident they are of the same outcome when voting by mail. Sixty-five percent of those definitely voting for Trump predict that fraudulent attempts to vote will happen very or somewhat often.

Why is that a potential problem for Trump and Republicans?

It could make it more difficult for these voters to cast ballots. All states will offer some kind of in-person voting in November, even the nine states — plus D.C. — that are automatically sending out ballot to voters.

Republicans (and Democrats and Independents too) have been voting by mail for decades.

Democrats vote for Biden by mail. It all looks natural.

Are asking their voters to vote IN PERSON. The machine vote presents the earliest results and if loaded by Trump votes it will TILT in favor for Trump. Then Trump will IMMEDIATELY DECLARE VICTORY. His voters will be ecstatic over this. But then as the mail in votes are counted and show a Biden win....Trump will declare FRAUD and the GOP will support his narrative. This is a set up, be prepared!

8. The machine votes don't present the earliest results.

Early voters and absentee ballots are counted first in many states.

... and looked up the list of accepted applications for my precinct. I was included!

Anyway, there's about twice as many Democrats who have successfully applied to vote by mail in my precinct so far.

Edit: After I get the ballot and complete it, I will drop it off at my local BOE. I trusted the USPS for the application, but I'm not taking any chances with the actual ballot.

10. There should be a drop box somewhere outside the board of elections.

So it can be dropped off safely without going inside. It's supposed to be monitored and secure.

The application that I sent nearly a month ago, from a group called "Center for Voter Information", apparently never got there! The BOE address on the included postage-paid envelope was correct, but I'm wondering if the postage was actually paid?

I then sent the application that I received from Ohio about a week ago, which required a stamp on the envelope, and now I'm on the list for mailed ballots!

I mainly suspect there was some kind of problem with the postage-paid envelope.

I later read those types of envelopes can take much longer to deliver, which I didn't know at the time.

The application that they sent me was exactly like the online form too.

Apparently maskless people still have to be allowed to vote. So that could be one hot mess on election day.
