United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby said on Sunday that, while he believes its safe to fly now, he doesn't see air travel returning to prepandemic levels until a coronavirus vaccine is developed and widely distributed.
Our view is, demand is not coming back, people are not going to get back and travel like they did before until there is a vaccine thats been widely distributed and available to a large portion of the population, Kirby said on CBS Face the Nation. I hope that happens sooner, but our guess is that's the end of next year.

(17,912 posts)it's Webex, Zoom or GoToMeeting. Many companies are still on travel lock downs. Mine still is. Guidance since March has been to forecast zero travel in Q2, slight pickup in Q3, somewhat reduced travel in Q4, with return to normal by Q1 2021. I ignored the earlier guidance and the new guidance I'm ignoring keeps pushing that time line further down the calendar. For once my crystal ball was...crystal. With no vaccine, the last thing you want to do is be stuck in a metal tube, breathing each other's air for 2 or 3 hours. Occasionally, I get something right.
