Trump to take questions from uncommitted voters in ABC News town hall from Philadelphia

Last edited Tue Sep 15, 2020, 12:00 PM - Edit history (1)

Source: ABC News

Exactly seven weeks before Election Day and two weeks before the first presidential debate, President Donald Trump on Tuesday night will face uncommitted voters head-on in a 90-minute town hall special hosted by ABC News from the battleground state of Pennsylvania.

ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos will anchor the event -- "The President and the People" -- from the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia airing at 9 p.m. ET. The forum will provide uncommitted voters, the opportunity to ask the president their questions on issues affecting Americans from the coronavirus pandemic and economic recovery to protests for racial justice and climate change.

The town hall comes as both presidential candidates say they are counting on taking the Keystone State in November. Tump won Pennsylvania in 2016 by a margin of 0.7% -- the narrowest difference in a presidential election for the state since 1840.

ABC News offered to host a similar town hall with Democratic presidential nominee and former Vice President Joe Biden, but ABC News and the campaign were not able to find a mutually agreeable date.

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I feel that it was a mistake on the part of the Biden campaign not to make time to do this town hall.

EDIT - I HADN'T REALIZED THAT BIDEN IS DOING A TOWN HALL THURSDAY NIGHT ON CNN. (ABC News conveniently forgot to mention that fact).

On the other hand, tRump's town hall is going to be overshadowed by Hurricane Sally.

NO ONE is undecided at this point. They are lying and too much of a coward to admit that, just to reinforce their own hatred of the other, they actually support Putin and the destruction of this country. Which are all based on their so-called "chreestian" beliefs.

But that is what they do. Lying, stealing, cheating is second nature to them.

That Biden should have made the time to to do a Town Hall, too. Why should Shit Stain get even more free air time, in prime time, yet? And from Biden’s home area of eastern PA..... It’s sickening. ABC should have only done this ONLY if BOTH candidates were available. But then we all know who crapped on the Fairness Doctrine ....

Had been hearing on the radio this morning about all the street closures and detours and whatnot around the facility, which is a couple blocks north of Independence Hall. I am sure Philly's finest (i.e., protestors - including those from the 'burbs and Jersey) will be out there to "greet" him.

And in response to this -

I feel that it was a mistake on the part of the Biden campaign not to make time to do this town hall.

Biden has almost made Philly his "2nd" home, being that it is about 40 miles north of Wilmington, DE. His "official" campaign HQ is actually listed as right here in Philadelphia, so there was really no need. We got his back and this is his base here.

This city is 8-1 Democratic registration. By the last state count from 9/7/20 (Excel file), the registrations were 834,703 (D) and 123,765 (R), 97,455 (No affiliation), 36,092 (Other), where I'm guessing "Other" is probably covering Libertarian, Green, Constitution, and Working Family.

Unless you have young people who are just getting to vote for the first time, I can't see how anyone could be "undecided" at this point. Biden is not "new". He was a very public VP for 8 years and just as public when a Senator for some 35 years before that, with this being his 3rd attempt at running for President (and first time making it this far in the process).

I'd personally like to see him go to Erie and get that county flipped back to blue, There seems to be a narrative out there that Hillary "lost Scranton". That was false. Lackawana County (that includes Biden's hometown of Scranton) voted for Hillary (although the results were closer than expected).

Here we go again with the free airtime for the bloated beast. Maybe he'll keep them waiting for an hour and even the waiting will be televised.

If there are going to be debates, they shouldn't need to have a "town hall". Let the so-called uncommitted voters watch the debates if they need more info.

ABC looking for ratings. What, didn't Dancing with the Stars get enough viewers last night? Hey, that's an idea. Maybe trump can be on DWTS after he's booted out. Or Pence. Wouldn't that be a hoot?
