Woman says she's voting for Biden because Trump dodged her question in town hall

Source: The Hill

...

Ellesia Blaque is an English professor at Kutztown University and questioned the president Tuesday night about health care and what his administration can do to offer those with preexisting conditions, such as herself, who are paying over $5,000 in copays for a condition she has had since birth.

...

"If you look at what they want to do, where they have socialized medicine, they will get rid of preexisting conditions, if they go into Medicare for All, which is socialized medicine, and you can forget about your doctors and your plans, just like you could forget under President Obama," Trump said

...

She added that she left the event upset, but decided that she would participate in this year's Nov. 3 election after previously qualifying for ABC's town hall as an uncommitted voter.

"I'm going to vote for Biden," she said, adding the president "reanimated me to vote."

Clearly concerned about keeping the Healthcare the previous Democratic administration (which included the current nominee) fought tooth and nail to provide her. With Trump and the GOP clear in their intent to dismantle with no effort and proudly no desire for a meaningful alternative.

And she was uncommitted and needed to be reanimated to vote.

That's the real story here.

In 2014 most Democrats running in key Senate races were so afraid of their own shadow on this issue, they wouldn't even stand up for Obamacare. Most of them lost. It took until 2018 for Dems to finally go on offense on pre-existing conditions, but they should have been able to do effectively much earlier.

There is no way in hell Trump should have even been on this woman’s radar. Educated, with pre-existing conditions? Concerned about health care?

Why was she even remotely uncommitted? This should have been the easiest decision of her life.

Tip to Trump: PEOPLE WANT TO FORGET ABOUT HEALTH INSURANCE. She literally said she doesn't like her "Plan".

He and his party do not want to (or know how to) "fix" anything: healthcare, the budget, social injustice, the environment. They only want to prevent change to protect Capital; that has been the raison d'etre of the GOP for my entire fucking life.

We're in a bubble on DU with educated, like minded people who generally agree on politics. There a a ton of folks out there, and I know a few, who don't have the time to worry about politics or to watch the news. They concern themselves with earning a living, fighting traffic, paying bills, eating, having a relationship, dealing with troubled kids...... and beyond that they don't think of much else.

These are the people we need to talk with and explain why Joe Biden winning the White House and Democrats retaking the Senate will benefit them. I know two young people like that who I got registered to vote and will do my darnedest to make sure they follow through and cast a ballot.

Use Trump’s and Republicans’ words against them. I’m sure Trump is on video from 2016 saying he would have a great new healthcare plan to replace Obamacare. He has said this numerous times. Also quote Republican leaders and their promises. That dramatic vote on the Senate floor by McCain with a voiceover that Republicans were only one vote short of taking healthcare away from millions of Americans. And about a month ago, Trump once again promised a fantastic new health plan that has never appeared.

Republicans’ promises on healthcare aren’t worth warm spit. They never appear and never will.
