Texas Surpasses 15,000 COVID-19 Deaths

Source: Spectrum News

TEXAS – The Lone Star State hit a grim milestone on Wednesday, surpassing 15,000 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

As of Thursday 15,129 fatalities in Texas were officially linked to the virus, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. This comes as the United States has surpassed 200,000 COVID-19 deaths, by far the most in the world.

The Texas Department of State Health Services also on Wednesday reported 2,977 new cases of the virus and 135 additional deaths.

The state has confirmed 719,599 cases, of which 86,416 are active. Harris County has reported the most cases at 138,473. In all likelihood the actual number of cases is much higher as testing has been limited and not everyone who has the virus experiences symptoms.

I am somewhat surprised that Texas has more deaths than Florida, since Florida has been reporting more daily deaths despite lower testing numbers and cases.

But they will sue to reverse the extension of early voting dates. Patrick, Paxton and Abbott...the Texas axis of evil.

Texas is #18, in the list of states, on deaths per capita. It is just below the national average.

We are to opening up more too. My county just moved to Color Red from Purple. I don't think I will be going out as much.

...and it has a much lower positivity rate. If California had the same positivity rates as Florida and Texas, California would considered out of control. As it stands, Florida and Texas have more reported deaths than California, which is due to the fact that there are less people proportionately who are sick.

8. Can You Imagine if California Had South Dakota's 20 Percent Positivity Rate?

Right now, California is under 3 percent. Yet, South Dakota's Governor is hailed by Republicans as a rising star, while in California, Republicans are circulating a recall petition for Newsome for failing to control COVID-19.

9. We have so many people, that a 20% infection rate would be a disaster.

LA County alone would be a disaster. It would make the UHauls outside morgues in New York look like a good idea.

I think some of the worst "early" cases and fatalities were happening (and probably still happening) in west Texas around El Paso and all along the Mexican border towns near there.
