Obamas are 'most admired' man and woman in world: poll

Former President Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama now hold the top spots for most admired man and woman in the world in the British data firm YouGov’s annual poll released Tuesday.

Barack Obama ousted Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates from the most admired title for the first time since YouGov started conducting the survey in 2014. Gates now holds second place for most admired man, followed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in third.

Michelle Obama is ranked number one for women for the second year in a row. Angelina Jolie, who previously held the top spot, was ranked second in Tuesday’s survey, followed by Queen Elizabeth II.

According to YouGov, the 2020 study was the largest conducted thus far, with more than 45,000 people in 42 countries and territories surveyed.

Rachel Maddow is shattering all the records for viewership for female anchors.

The fact that there's room in the top ten spots on that list for Oprah Winfrey, Angelina Jolie, Emma Watson, Taylor Swift and Madonna and not any of the women above tells you everything you need to know about how far gender equality has progressed.

What do Americans "admire" about women?

a. They've been at one point in their lives at least young, pretty and/or charismatic enough to have been on TV or in a movie
b. They've given some money/time to a charity and/or adopted a brown child.

possibly) than the news that someone submitted trump's name for a nobel peace prize, and no one raved or ranted about it (trump was throwing a fit when no body said a word about his nomination). Can someone explain how it is that Angelina Jolie is ranked number 2? I don't get it.

Gives me pause to think the survey may include leading suggestions. I don't know anyone who would even think to rank her anywhere on their most admired women list, let alone at the top of the heap.
