US coronavirus: New cases surge in Florida

Source: MSN/CNN

Florida reported a spike in new coronavirus cases Tuesday, just days after Gov. Ron DeSantis signed an executive order allowing restaurants and bars to operate at full capacity.

New cases surged to 3,266 from the 738 reported Monday, according to the state's health department. That's the highest one-day number since September 19.

DeSantis lifted restrictions on bars and residents Friday, and scenes of crowded bars and restaurants played out around the state over the weekend.

Until recently a coronavirus hotspot, Florida's cases had been falling, and the state is among only seven with at least a 10% reduction in new cases in the week ending Monday compared to the previous seven days.

The interesting thing is that Florida has really scaled back testing as of late so that it now has the lowest rate of testing per 1000 among states.

So, Florida is testing less, but they are still showing a surge.

It's the poor and non-white people who are suffering the most during this pandemic.
More credence for me not to believe in a god.

...is calculated to create the impression just before the election that the pandemic is old news. Of course, Covid does not really care about talking points. The gamble is that most votes are in before people die or are hospitalalized due to a second wave.

Sadly, I am sure sick folks will be wondering, but we were reopening and cases were going down.

In Ga two major hospital chains won’t supply Covid 19 data. Piedmont hospital chains all 11 and Wellstar hospitals will not report data on Covid 19. So you wonder why GA is seeing numbers stay the same.
This is outrageous and both Adminstrators and CEO’s should be fired. For not providing information to the public and looking after well being of the general public. Resulting in a false sense of well-being which in turn leads to more infectious outbreaks causing more disabilities and patient deaths.

Mostly republican type live in the villages in central FL. They didn’t pay attention to the rapid spread in their community. Instead they listened to their cult leader and are now paying with their lives. Some might have recovered only become long haulers and in time will be back in the hospital in the end. Because most of the population is well over 65. You can’t fix stupid and “ it is what it is “. Just ask your leader.

The seven day average has been slowly declining for the past month. So of course the state is going to stop doing the things that have caused the number to go down.
