Facebook removes Trump ads on refugees and Covid-19
Source: NBC
Facebook said Wednesday that it had taken down ads from the Trump campaign that claimed without evidence that accepting refugees from abroad would increase risks related to the coronavirus pandemic.
We rejected these ads because we dont allow claims that peoples physical safety, health, or survival is threatened by people on the basis of their national origin or immigration status, Facebook spokesperson Andy Stone said in a statement.
The ads included a video of Joe Biden talking about the border, overlaid with text about the health risks from an increase in refugees. It also alleged that Biden would increase the number of refugees arriving from Syria, Somalia and Yemen by 700 percent. The ads cited no sources.
The Trump campaign began running the ads Tuesday with at least 38 different versions before Facebook determined that the ads ran afoul of the companys advertising policies.

SAN DIEGO (AP) The Trump administration has proposed further slashing the number of refugees the United States accepts to a new record low in the coming year.
In a notice sent to Congress late Wednesday, just 34 minutes before a statutory deadline to do so, the administration said it intended to admit a maximum of 15,000 refugees in fiscal year 2021. Thats 3,000 fewer than the 18,000 ceiling the administration had set for fiscal year 2020, which expired at midnight Wednesday.
The proposal will now be reviewed by Congress, where there are strong objections to the cuts, but lawmakers will be largely powerless to force changes.
The more than 16.5% reduction was announced shortly after President Donald Trump vilified refugees as an unwanted burden at a campaign rally in Duluth, Minnesota, where he assailed his opponent, former Vice President Joe Biden. He claimed Biden wants to flood the state with foreigners.

I just want to point out that St Louis County where Duluth is located has one of the highest rates of Covid infection in Minnesota right now. Holding one of his super spreader hate rallys shows his malice.
